I know that many of my readers adores the vintage style and look to
design and style their wedding day using props to help set the scene.
Well you guys need to say a big fat hello to Vintage Style Hire, aka
Kate Fletcher, who is one of the best vintage prop hire businesses in
the UK today. I know, because I chose to work with Kate on the Love My
Dress Summer Soiree, and in styling my upcoming book; 'Style Me Vintage:
Weddings'.
Kate and her colleague Sam Cotterell from Violets & Velvet recently
opened the doors to an amazing big old farm barn that is packed to the
rafters with the most delectable original vintage props for you to
hire, that Kate has spent years lovingly seeking out from her travels to
flee markets and antique shops up and down the UK…

Kate started Vintage Style Hire in her dining room and garage, which before to long, began to groan at the seams; "Last
year it was my dream to rent somewhere. After initially sharing a unit
with Sam, I soon outgrew our shared space so my lovely landlord built a
larger unit especially for me. I don't think he imagined I would be
wallpapering his barn! It was great for everyone to come along and see
what I’ve been doing hidden away this past year!”
The lovely little film below that captures the opening day of Kate's new vintage barn, was created by Natasha Stanbridge
who shoots, edits and produces films for hotel, fashion, weddings and
lifestyle brands. Kate Fletcher styled Natasha's wedding in 2011 and
their working relationship continues to grow through Natasha's interest
in being able to capture Kate's beautiful projects on film…

Sam Cotterrell launched Violets & Velvet in 2008 after a career in
costume and textiles. She is a preferred supplier for English Heritage
and enjoys working at many glamorous venues around London and the Home
Counties. She has been featured on quite a few posts on Love My Dress
and like Kate, has an unhealthy passion for vintage and antique finds'; "Initially joining up with Kate provided the perfect opportunity to
expand our own businesses individually as well as doing lots of projects
together. It’s really exciting that we have both grown over the last
year and now have our own space.
Kate
added that "…Natasha Stanbridge's films are amazing. She really captures the
mood on every film. We are even working on the idea of having a vintage
cinema in the upstairs space at the barn. I can't wait for that!".
Eeeeeek! Neither can we!
Alongside Vintage Style Hire, Kate will be selling at regular open days at the barn, online
and at the Old Spitalfields Vintage Flea Market on Thursday's (she's there today infact for anyone close!). Both Kate and Sam are always up for a chat and would love you to come and visit.
