Morning all! And how does Love My Dress find you today? Feeling good and ready to embrace the week I hope! I've the wedding photographs of one classic Beauty of a Bride this morning to share with you – the Bride in these photographs, Flo, reminded me instantly of Grace Kelly on her own wedding day – the beautiful lace and pearls, the neatly up-styled hair and a Bride that for me, is the epitome of elegance.
Flo and Jon celebrated their marriage on 18 September 2010 with a service at St Mary's in Washington, West Sussex, followed by a reception in a friend's old barn in Steyning; "I didn't want a particular theme for the wedding, i just chose things i thought would look lovely."
Flo's exquisite, vintage style dress was by White Leaf in Brighton…"I saw three or four rather original and beautiful dresses in Blanka's shop and I knew what I wanted so we sort of mixed up parts of all the dresses to produce something unique!"
These fabulous photographs were taken by Brighton and Sussex Wedding Photographer and Love My Dress favourite, Lisa Devlin. You can view more Lisa Devlin Photography on the Love My Dress Wedding Blog here – Bride Flo told me, "I can't recommend her enough…"

I love the way Lisa manages to capture the detail that surrounds the Bride getting ready – it's the little details like this that help to bring back a flood of wonderful memories when you first look through your wedding album…
Flo's bouquet is awash with autumnal colours – I just love it. Fiona and Emma at Kiki & Cole prepared and supplied the flowers for the day…. "they were great with their creative input. I had ideas of colours I wanted to use, including berries and hops and thistles. There was a lot of red and orange and some Chocolate Cosmos and Chinese Lanterns. We had a lot of compliments on the flowers, the centrepieces in the barn were quite extravagant and beautifully done."
"I bought my necklace and earring set off a website from an old vintage shop somewhere up in Yorkshire…"
"I got my shoes in Rokit in Covent Garden for twenty pounds!"
"I did my own make up using mostly Laura Mercier, but Alex Martinez from Cisco's Karma in Brighton came and did my hair for me at home…"
Flo's Bridesmaids looked resplendent in pale green dresses from 'Chloe Mai', a local Bridal shop in Steyning that apparently has a fantastic and varied selection of dresses.
"The Bridesmaids shoes were both found in the same way as my own – in some second hand shops in the lanes of Brighton, not very expensive but both with lots of character and looking lovely. I bought both my Bridesmaids nice sets of double stranded pearls – almost antique gold in colour and very elegant. Like the shoes, a great price and from Snooper's Paradise in Brighton!"
"Barry Norton, a friend, drove us in his pale blue Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, complete with ivory ribbon and flowers in the back window…"
"The organist played Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel, as my Dad walked me down the aisle…"
"I was nervous in the morning before going to the church, but as soon as i saw Jon waiting for me at the other end of the aisle, my nerves were quickly replaced by an enormous grin – which didn't leave my face all day!"
A wonderful Grace Kelly Bride style shot…
I love this shot, it's one of my favourites and shows how Flo used a few buds from her bouquet in her hair – just beautiful…
"I made some bunting which took rather a lot longer than anticipated – using gold and dark brown silk. We wrapped the upright wooden beams with ivy and used the emblem i designed for the invitations as a large gold sign above the bar.
The barn was beautiful as it was – we only needed to add a few touches to make it special. Robin Jones from Findon Marquee Hire was especially helpful with the interior, sorting everything we needed to hire…"
"Our name places were written in gold on green chilli peppers – our surname being 'Pepper'…"
Cake… "Ann House made the cake, to my design. I wanted a pyramid, which she decorated beautifully with Royal icing. There were flowers between each of the four tiers to echo what our florist used…"
"We were dead set against having a first dance, so when the band called us up to a song they had dedicated to us (can't even remember what it was!) we made an embarrased effort to 'dance' along, trying all the time to get everyone else involved…. Ironically, our photographer descibed our first dance pictures as 'the most romantic' she'd ever seen, which we thought was hilarious."
Entertainment was provided by way of a A local 17-piece swing band called 'The Accidentals'' – "…the sound was fantastic. Swing really transcends the generations so it was enjoyed by all ages"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Just really enjoy the whole process and build up, don't let it escape you by focussing too much on the future. It's an absolute joy to be planning a wedding, so don't let it take over and stress you out. All the little details you worry about before the wedding will be forgotten and almost insignificant on the day itself.
When the day finally arrived after months and months of planning, it was quite bizarre to be living the reality which i had visualised numerous times in the lead up. I really took advice from friends who had told me not to worry about anyone else on the day, just to enjoy every bit and savour the moment. I didn't want to let it escape me without really making the most of it all because i knew how quickly the day would pass…"
I love writing for this Blog – how could I not when I get to work with and share exquisite imagery such as this?
Thank you Lisa Devlin for once again allowing me to feature your simply beautiful photographs on Love My Dress and of course, huge congratulations to Flo and Jon on your beautiful wedding day and marrige.
Much love all
