1940’s Inspired Old School Glamour…

Good afternoon, I hope this latest posts finds you well on this most dreary of Mondays (weather wise that is) up here in the North East of England.  This latest wedding feature is here especially to help cheer you along this grey afternoon :)

Natalie and Danny celebrated their love via an informal wedding on 30th October at Minterne House, Minterne Magna in Dorset.  The couple wanted a very relaxed wedding (so no Bridesmaids, or cake) and Natalie as inspired by the glamour of the 1940's in styling her wedding day look.

I love these photographs – Bride Natalie looks truly stunning with that delicate rose in her hair, and her gown by made to measure and bespoke bridal wear designer, Shanna Melville

"My wedding dress was by Shanna Melville – I described what I had in mind to Shanna and we looked at the dresses she had in her studio and came up with the look I was after. Shanna made it exactly to my specifications and she was so lovely and helpful throughout. It was beautiful and just what I wanted – simple and elegant. I particularly loved the back detail…"

Isn't that photograph above just beautiful? Natalie wore a single white rose from The Poundbury Florist in her hair, and a pair of Swarovski earrings.

The couple chose Minterne House in Minterne Magna. Dorset as the setting for their wedding day celebrations…

"The house has beautiful grounds and we thought it would look stunning in Autumn. The house is grand but still someone’s home so we thought it would look stunning in the photos but still have a relaxed feel…"

No traditional morning suit here…

"Danny really didn’t want the traditional morning suit – it’s not a look we like. His grey three pieces suit was ‘Savoy Taylors Guild’ bought from Moss Bros.  Danny also wore a pair of classic tan brogues from Grenson and a silk, purple tie…"

"We wanted it to be simple and contemporary with a bit of a vintage twist. I love the 1940’s era and old school glamour so this influenced my look somewhat. However, I didn’t want to stress over every detail so kept things as simple as possible. Less is more!

During the run up to the wedding, I kept in mind that the most important thing was that I would be marrying the man I loved and sharing it with close friends and family. Nothing else mattered…"

Wow, talk about a beautiful, elegant, radiant, stunning Bride! Natalie's simple bouquet doesn't detract from her elegant look…

"We used The Poundbury Florist – Jessie is amazing, so knowledgeable and helpful. I wanted a simple white bouquet as my dress was a champagne colour and I didn’t want to detract from it, just compliment it. I decided on hydrangeas as they have a bit of classic, vintage look…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom?

"Stick to what you want. There will be endless people imparting words of wisdom and telling you what you should have and what’s ‘traditional’. Stand your ground. It’s your day, and you want to look back and be happy with every detail.

Also, delegate! I find this very hard to do but it really does help to assign jobs to friends and family so there is less for you to worry about.

Enjoy every moment of your wedding day. Take a couple of minutes on your own during the preparations to take it all in. The day absolutely flies by…"
