A Sassi Holford Bride Keeps It Natural on her Wedding Day…

Hi All ;)  Hoping this Friday afternoon blog instalment serves all you lovely Brides to be stuck in offices sneaking a peek on the wedding blogs during work hours. Hehehe 😉

Those of you who watched this video earlier this week will recognise this Bride as Amy, who married her Beau Roger in Edinburgh on 30 July this year.   The couple, who live in Dubai, chose their home town of Edinburgh to tie the knot, and The Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh as their reception venue.

Amy wore a stunning Sassi Holford dress, a purchase from Rachel Scott Couture on Dundas St in Edinburgh…

"Rachel was a star from day one. Friendly, honest, personal, passionate and an expert in understanding a bride's vision and making it happen.

Go to her shop and you won't be dissapointed. Every single dress was unique and beautifully made, and she arranged plenty of last minute fittings as/when I was in the country. 10 gold stars! She also persuaded me to go for the veil, which I am very glad about…"

"I wore Hush puppie mary jane's from Schuh. I loved them the minute I saw them in the window and could have danced in them all night!"

"I knew I imagined my wedding dress to be romantic and not too structured, but was also opened minded to trying on a few different styles, which I think is important. I loved so many and had such fun trying them all on but this one instantly won me and my Mum over. I like the different layers of material and organza flower and ribbons on the empire line.

I loved the buttons down the back and the way it moved when I spun around. (V important on the dancefloor!) I liked that it was simple but with a twist and its true what everyone says.. 'when you try on the right one, you just know'. It felt very wow but in an understated, elegant way. It was very me, and I wanted that to shine through, which, I hope, it did…"

"My motto was to 'look natural, but not have the pressure of getting it right myself'…"

"I couldn't decide on whether to 'veil' or not up until a couple of weeks before the wedding. I'm so glad I decided to wear it for the church. It was very fine and without 'bunching' but I think added a very special feel, when making my entrance. It also made me feel a teeny bit safer…"

"Planet Flowers provided all our florals and bouquets. My favourite colour has always been yellow so that bit was easy. I liked the idea of all having the same (as my bridesmaids/flower girl) and keeping the look simple and pretty. Saw the fresia posy and thought it would work well with the girl's grey dresses and a summer's day (which we got – phew!). The heart shaped wreaths outside the church were also stunning and the whole place smelt of fresh flowers and sunshine :)"

"My eldest brother Stuart gave me away. My Dad passed away in November 09 and so I wanted my 3 brothers to all have a formal part in the day. Stuart walked me down the aisle {to Coldplay's 'Reign of Love'}, Graeme did my Dad's speech and Ross did our reading in the church. He would be very proud of them and I am so lucky to have them…"

"I wore a pearl and sparkly bespoke headband made by Rachel Scott, the owner of Rachel Scott Couture – it was perfect for a subtle change for the evening and a bit of glitz. It had a 40's feel to it, which I really liked.  "I'm not into tons of jewellry so apart from my headband, I chose to just wear my wedding & engagement ring on the day and let them do the talking…"

"My Auntie made it: Fruit tier, chocolate tier and lemon sponge tier in heart shapes. Again, wanted to keep it quite simple and so we had ivory icing and lemon ribbon -to echo floral colours. We had smurfs on top, cos we loved them as kids and didn't want to take it too seriously. The groom smurf in bowtie also looked like Roger – if he was blue."

"We chose 'The whole of the moon' by The Waterboys. We purposely did not practice it and had lots of fun being spontaneous on the night. Not sure how it looked, but we enjoyed every minute.I think spinning each other, featured heavily and though this was one area we thought we might be nervous about, once we were up there, we didn't want the song to end…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Enjoy all the wedding magazines and websites out there, but stay true to whats important to you guys, and keep it personal. Allow others to help out where they can and have fun in the process. When you get stressed, or up to your eyeballs in folding, calligraphy or itunes remember why you are doing it all and go with the flow. While planning some elements well is obviously key, some of the best bits and memories of the day, are the parts that just happen and no-one can predict.

You remember the feeling of the day more than the details, so a happy bride & groom is really all you need…"

You see, sometimes it aint all about the fuss, the detail heavy decor, it is oftentimes just about the wonderful photography that is loaded with emotion and memory of a beautiful day.

Huge thanks to Elemental Photography for sharing these photographs…

"Christina & Jay (husband and wife team) were such an asset to our day. Not only are their photographs beautifully captured and informal, they are the nicest couple as well. It was important to us, that we felt comfortable and could have some banter with whoever photographed our day and they put us at ease, helped pick confetti out our hair and made the whole wedding journey lots of fun.

Their pictures will be tresured for lifetimes. These guys are destined for greatness and even though the wedding has been, my Mum still wants to bake for them. Lovely, lovely twosome."
