Coral and Pastel Pink Perfection – A 1960’s Inspired Islington Town Hall Wedding…

Good afternoon my gorgeous blog followers :)  I will be away attending my Daughter's Christmas play by the time this post goes live. I'll report back and let you know how it goes!

This absolutely beautiful pastel pretty wedding is that of Martin and Lucy, who tied the knot on 23 September at Islington Town Hall in London.  I saw just one photograph from this wedding before I agreed to feature it.  How pretty do this maids look next to the Bride in their short lacy pastel colour frocks?  Bride Lucy wore the most beautiful 1960's replica silk wedding dress from The Vintage Wedding Dress Company

"I definitely wanted vintage or vintage inspired and this just totally suited me and made me feel like a supermodel! I loved the simplicity and it was so flattering and totally different to what I would normally wear. (I never wear anything fitted!).

My veil was from Mirror Mirror in Crouch end London. Its called the Jackie O, and my gorgeous husband treated me to Nude patent almond toe Christian Louboutins…"

"Quite simply I just love colour and flowers and girly vintage inspired things!  I was really inspired by my beautiful friends (the bridesmaids) who are all really talented creative people who have fab taste and love the same stuff as me, we just egg each other on. They just get me and what I love…."

"A good friend Called Matt did my flowers. He has just opened his first shop – The Urban Flower Company.  So my absolute favourite colour is coral pink (it’s a bit of joke about how much I love it) So he sourced the roses and then had the mammoth challenge of making september flowers look like may flowers….. I am slo very fussy when it comes to flowers but he did a fab job….. I think he was a bit scared of me!"

"I did my own hair and make-up. I wasn’t going to but I had a hair trial and decided I preferred it when I did it. I had a make up lesson at Bobbi brown as they had a special on at John Lewis…"

"We were married at Islington Town hall on upper street in London and had a dinner and party at the Clissold Arms in Muswell hill. We were going to have the full church country bash with a tipee marquee but it just didn’t feel like it suited us and we wanted a really informal wedding. So we went for a local wedding. I have lived in London and Islington was always my favourite haunt and it’s a pretty grand building and the pub is just a beautiful local pub that serves gorgeous food so it was all pretty simple."

"We have a beautiful boy called bobby who is two, and he was a big inspiration to get married. When martin proposed he asked me to be his wife so we could all share the same name.

Actually the proposal was pretty spectacular, we jumped off the top of a mountain in the French alps and parascended to the bottom and then he proposed. We were on a skiing and snowboarding holiday and he was so nervous that day he kept falling over. I thought he was being really weird! Normally he is an amazing boarder, he was rubbish that day…."

"A local lady in my mums village in bedforshire made our cake… it was just sponge with lemon curd. We put the ribbon and flowers on. I was going to make cupcakes but changed my mind at the last minute…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Spend your money on the right things like the food, flowers and dresses and entertainment. Save where you can and pull in favours. Don’t spend on a cake or favours or decorations, no one cares or notices.

When doing the timings for the day give everything an extra half an hour. We ended up running massively late… it didn’t matter but it was less dancing and drinking time!
Allow yourself loads of time to talk to your guests.

And DON’T do anything that doesn’t feel right or comfortable – whether its to do with your appearance dress or the ceremony. Follow your heart and really ask yourself if you feel comfortable with it…"

Oh, such a perfect day 😉 Huge huge thanks to the lovely Gillian and Christopher over at Christopher Currie Photography for sending in these images.

I'd love your thoughts on these beautiful pastel colours – also are any of you Brides having maids with cute short dresses like this? I think they look absolutely wonderful! 😉
