Now based in Dulwich, London, Naomi's career as a designer came about quite by accident…

'I studied physics. Then I was an IT
consultant and a merchandiser for Dorothy Perkins, but my bad health made me
change my lifestyle and I started making frocks. I’ve
always loved sewing. I was sat at a sewing machine when I was 5 years old. I
collect bits of fabric like other girls collect shoes.'

Naomi draws inspiration from an eclectic array of sources and adopts an incredibly hands-on approach to her work.

'I love old movies. All
those romantic elegant dresses on Grace Kelly, Lauren Becall and Mae West – I spent my
childhood Sunday afternoons glued to them. I’m a
chameleon at heart though. I like all kinds of styles and designs, and my ideas change
all the time! But I do love dance and ballet, so I like things
to move well.'

'I’m very hands-on, I design, create
patterns, cut, make, sew and trim. I just love moulding fabric into something new
and making people look fantastic. I love the challenge of
design… getting the right balance. I like structure –
creating a dress that looks as light as a feather but gives you support and
comfort.

Bridalwear
allows you to use all the most expensive and luxurious fabric and trims. You get
to create a beautiful fantasy that people will actually wear and enjoy. That
gives me goosebumps.'

Naomi is also passionate about ensuring her brides feel fabulous in their dress.

'I guess I
like to think everything is elegant, tasteful and well balanced, that my designs have form, structure
and style – that's what I’m aiming for anyway. And the dress must do something
for the wearer. Some people are lucky and they can wear anything. They tend to
be catwalk models though! I like to make things that real women can wear… like if we make a bias cut backless design we will build a bra support into
the dress – make sure it's not see through, pop a bit of secret corsetry in…'

'I hope all our brides are
comfortable and enjoy wearing their dress. I think joy is the important thing… that's where the touch of fairytale comes from.' I couldn't agree more!

Naomi Neoh's offering for 2014, ‘The Secret Garden Collection’ is a marriage between classic Bridalwear and unadulterated romantce.

'I’m fascinated by the 1930’s and the
swirling dance dresses worn by Ginger Rogers in her films with Fred
Astaire. This inspires a new range of soft, slim dresses with art deco
beaded detailing and concealed corsetry to create a svelte, elegant silhouette
with the lightness and fluidity of sheer silk fabrics.'

The collection features Naomi's popular flowing, silk
chiffon dresses, but also incorporates some lighter, more ethereal French
Chantilly laces. Dresses will
be available to brides through the
London design studio and other stockists from September/October.

Prices
range from £2,000 – £3,000 with most dresses around the £2,500 price
mark. The design
studio in London also provides a couture service for brides who would
like a made-to-measure dress (for an extra cost). Naomi will personally
oversee all the
fittings, providing personal style advice as well as
the opportunity to customise your dress with guidance from her and the
team.

Naomi Neoh also has an ever growing number of stockists across the country that carry the most popular
