Good morning all. This is the day Franky and I shortlist our 4 first blogging brides, otherwise affectionately known as 'The Lovettes'. I don't think I've had such a difficult job in years. Seriously. Honestly, I was crying, laughing, nodding in agreement, feeling my heart sing and desperately needing to hug these ladies as I went through the applications last night – what a superb community of readers we have. I'm just so proud. It's comforting too to learn first hand how much our readers adore visiting Love My Dress for our wedding features. I'm simply going to have to share some of the comments with you in due course!
So this morning's real wedding couple are Tom, an Aviations Strategy and Business Development Manager and his bride Shona, a General Manager and Tour Operator – who tied the knot on 1st November last year at Islington Town Hall, followed by a reception at The Amadeus Centre in Little Venice, London. The wedding had a distinctly 60’s Mod vibe about it, largely down to Tom and his love of the era. And I love that Shona carried a white handbag on her wedding day. These photographs were sent in by Adam Bronkhurst of Viva Wedding Photography.
"Tom is particularly into the 60’s era, namely the mod movement and music scene with favourite bands including The Beatles, The Beach Boys and The Who. I have a penchant for the fashion of the 60’s so together it was an obvious theme for our wedding."

"Tom and I met at work after both relocating to Hertfordshire, Shona from Sussex and Tom from Cheshire. We were engaged on Christmas Day 2012 and married approx. 10 months later on 1st November 2013."
"Our stationery designer was Nini B. Janine does this part time currently but trying to increase her business so sure she would appreciate word of mouth."
"My dress was by Candy Anthony – the testimonials on Candy’s website seem to be the exact thing I was looking for and loved the idea of a vintage style dress but one that was made for me and new!"
"Tom's suit was by George Dyer and his shoes were from John White Shoes. He wore a bespoke shirt and handkerchief from Peckham Rye and a tie from Jump the Gun. The groomsmen's suits were all the Ushers and Best Men’s own and not the same. It meant all the suits looked sharp and well fitted in keeping with the Mod scene. We provided handerkerchiefs from Jump the Gun."
"Our photographer was Adam Bonkhurst of Viva Wedding Photography. Adam was so great on the day and in the run up to the wedding. He totally put us at ease in front of the camera and we are so pleased with the final images. He’s so creative and stands out from lots of other photographers that we looked at.
We first saw him at our friends wedding and loved the way that he worked, really having a laugh and making the photography fun."
"During our ceremony, we had 'My Valentine' by Paul McCartney as a reading."
"Redcat Lighting lit the whole reception venue and as a result every wedding at the Amadeus can be different suiting each bride and groom’s wishes."
"We really had the best day of our lives and don’t care it’s a cliché. Perhaps the most humbling and thrilling part of the whole day was being announced into our wedding breakfast – it was a rock star reception as if the Stones or Beatles were taking to the stage!"
"Our favours were sticks or rock provided by The Rock People, and paid homage to Brighton, as I am a Sussex girl but also because the Brighton scene reflects the Mod movement."
"Our first dance as to 'I’m Happy Just to Dance With You' by The Beatles – a perfect song for a first dance at a 60s wedding!"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Do a lot of internet research to save time, be decisive and use other people’s recommendations! Anything you really value make sure you make time to arrange. Tom chose every single song played from start to finish (with a little input from me).
Booze and Music are key to a continuous good atmosphere for your guests. Don’t forget the music for drinks and in between main events."
A fabulously stylish wedding indeed – huge congrats Shona and Tom, thank you so much for inspiring our readers today! A huge thank you also to Viva Wedding Photography for sharing their work today – thank you Adam.
