Mrs Wishart Stationery ~ Colourful and Creative Wedding Invitations, Cards and Stationery

It's been a while since I've had the opportunity eulogise about pretty paper goods on the pages of Love My Dress, but long time readers may remember I'm a huge fan of stationery in all its forms. Today I'd like to introduce you to Mrs Wishart, purveyors of fine wedding invitations, cards and stationery.

With a previous career in social work, Mrs Wishart's founder, Ali, always had a yearning to create a business that would allow her to be a part of the positive celebrations in people’s lives, rather than intervening at points of crisis.

'I have always had a love of art, design and all things paper and so Mrs Wishart stationery was conceived. Since the business has started to grow, other members of the Wishart family have become instrumental in striving to improve and expand our range and maintain our high standards of customer service to our brides and grooms. Our design studio is based in Edinburgh and all our pieces are designed and printed here in Scotland. We ship worldwide and have recently taken an order from Australia.'

It's obvious the Mrs Wishart team adore patterns and prints as they're a really important part of all the designs they carry.

'We want to create beautiful wedding invitations that combine both attractive typography and strong print designs. All of our current ranges are flat card style invitations with the wording on the front and one of our prints on the back. Some designs carry the motif through to the front in some way, whilst others have a bold text design that simply complements the print. All of our patterns and prints are designed by us and are completely original.'

Drawing inspiration from wallpapers, fabrics and patterns from the past, Mrs Wishart employ their own hand drawn elements to create original and unique contemporary prints.

'The pattern repeat used in our 'Birds' wedding invitation was inspired by old Japanese wallpaper found at the Katsura Imperial Villa in Kyoto. We gave it a modern twist by introducing our own hand-drawn motif featuring pairs of birds in flight rather than the original floral design.'

All of the collections are fully customisable. As well the obvious things like wording and colours, they can also be flexible about other parts of the design. For example, if you would like the front of one design and the back of another, or would like a personal motif included, they will work with you to see your vision realised.

'If couples would prefer a folded card style or need additional accessories that are not on our price list we can of course supply them and will provide a personalised quote for this. I am a perfectionist and know how important it is to get the details exactly right. It gives me a huge amount of pleasure to work with couples on a design they love and to play just a small part in their big day.'

Prices depend on the quantity ordered, but for a typical order of 100 invitations they are priced at £1.80 each, including a coordinating envelope.
