Klaire Van Elton Bridal Adornments ~ Vintage Inspired Accessories with a Contemporary Twist

Klaire Elton is the creator and designer of Klaire Van Elton Bridal Adornments. Offering headpieces, halos, vines, veils, cuffs and combs, her pieces are perfect for brides who love all things vintage, but crave a contemporary, whimsical twist.

'I individually hand make every design in the collection, selecting intricate laces, organic vines and origami papers to create adornments for brides who are happy to stray from convention in favour of something altogether more personal and unique.'

Annabel and I really love Klaire's delicate designs, particularly the striking origami pieces. The components are hand cut and inter-woven to create something really striking and unique. The designer told us more about where the inspiration for these pieces came from…

'For my own wedding back in 2011, like a lot of brides, I was eager to put a personal stamp on our day so I DIYed what I could, most notably our flowers which were all origami folded from old novels. The reaction to the flowers was pretty amazing and, once back from honeymoon, I decided to launch my alternative floristry company Paper-me-Happy. Soon after, our wedding was featured in a national wedding magazine and after that I never looked back.'

Klaire Van Elton Bridal Adornments developed organically when, over time, more and more brides requested hair accessories to co-ordinate with their bouquets.

'Prior to designing wedding flowers, I'd spent a decade working as a designer for various high-street brands and boutiques, so the idea to combine both my love of fashion with weddings seemed too tempting to resist!'

Klaire describes her signature style as whimsical and eclectic with a lightness of touch.

'I aim for my adornments to be as versatile as possible so they can be worn and interpreted in many different ways. As uninspiring as it may sound, comfort and practicality are also key! I use only the finest headbands to avoid unnecessary pressure points and by using lots of lace, filigree and origami bases, I ensure everything stays light and easy to wear.'

'For as long as I can remember, I've always loved making things. Whether it was an Easter card for my Nana or the calendar that was proudly displayed in my mum's kitchen for the following year, 'creating' has always been an important part of my life. I love the intricacy and attention-to-detail creating bridal adornments demands. I love meeting and working alongside my brides, getting to know them, learning about their inspirations and growing to understand the 'look' they wish to create for their big day. I also love the fact that because everything is handmade-to-order, each adornment becomes as unique as the bride for whom it is intended.'

'I'm a naturally eclectic person, hoarding things and collecting trinkets along the way. I like things miss-matched, unexpected and with lots of character and texture and try to convey this through my designs. For my debut collection, I was fortunate enough to travel overseas for research, scouring far flung trim markets and decorative lace mills along the way looking for fresh ideas and new fabrics. I am always fascinated by the ways in which different cultures adorn and embellish their wares and this is a constant inspiration in my work.'

Klaire's studio is located in Hinckley, Leicestershire and she ships worldwide.

'I strive to create an easy, hassle-free way for brides to find that perfect accessory, the final special  touch that pulls everything together. As well as choosing from our existing designs, brides can customize a totally bespoke piece, a true one-off for them alone and we have delighted many brides with this service. I also offer a consultation service, where brides can book to come see the collection and try on as many different pieces as they can muster and we are also stocked in a variety of boutiques across the UK. Our pieces range from £25 for a petite floral hair pin up to £290 for our largest most elaborate hair vine.'
