Covet Love: Greys, Naturals and a Healthy Kitchen

Yippee! It’s my turn to talk about some of the things I love this week. Hope you like!  Now as a bride to be, my head has only been turned in the last few months by beautiful lace dresses or clever seating plan ideas so I’m ashamed to say that many things in the ‘real world’ have passed me by; therefore over the last couple of weeks I’ve paid special attention to what has caught my eye.

When it comes to clothes I really need to lighten up. Literally! My wardrobe looks like I’ve done a supermarket sweep in an All Saints warehouse. Black, white and (obviously!) grey rule, with a very occasional splash of reluctant coral or green. I’m sure I’ll be 98 and still rocking my various shades of skinny jeans! However when this little number appeared in my news feed I decided that it would be worthy of getting my legs out! A little pricey but unique enough to be worth it.

I am a sucker for grey things! So when I discovered this simple Habitat jewellery box on a paint expedition to Homebase, it became an immediate must-have for my soon-to-be-painted-pale-grey bedroom.

More grey was spotted while channelling my inner Shakira at a Zumba class. The lady in front of me was sporting a most fabulous pair of grey and pink Nike trainers. I headed straight home determined to update my own overused pair only to be thwarted by Google, which is unable to track them down 🙁 However it did bring up this pair that are the total opposite to the ones I coveted. I want to include them here as I feel it may be time to break the cycle of greyness!

When I haven’t been wedding planning I’ve been renovating our 1905 house so to be frank, I’ve been coveting things I previously took for granted like warm showers and kitchen drawers that open and close! My ideal kitchen is in my thoughts daily as I mop up water from the leaky sink or coax the oven to work ‘just once more!’ One day on Pinterest I stumbled across deVOL kitchens and I’m well and truly smitten. Their style along with their muted (grey!) colour pallet are my idea of kitchen heaven. Now to just start saving…!

I am a lover of natural toiletries, and have been now for many years, as I just don’t like the idea of using chemicals on my face and body. I subscribe to a monthly beauty box from Love Lula that introduces me to some fabulous organic and natural companies and products. My personal favourites include Liz Earle, REN and the divine smelling Neal’s Yard, which all happen to be British too. However I’m also a fan of the more affordable Dr. Organic range. This is a real passion of mine so it has made my Covet Love choice super hard. However I have to mention the Liz Earle Skin Tint SPF 15 simply because I hate foundation and have never worn it but I adore this! It perfects everything that is wrong with your skin but leaves you looking natural and fresh.

I’m very envious of people who can carry off a bright or dark lip but it just doesn’t suit me. So when I discovered this Jane Iredale Lip & Cheek Stain it was like it was made for me! It feels beautiful and works with your natural colouring so you can never go too dark.

I am constantly in search of a soy or beeswax candle with a truly room-filling, beautiful scent. They always smell so nice in their jar yet I’m often disappointed at the time of burning. Until I find one, I’m loving Neal’s Yard aromatherapy blends which I use in an oil burner.  My current fave is ‘optimism,’ a wonderful blend of jasmine and grapefruit that happily fills my old, damp house!

Annabel and I are both on healthy paths at the moment, however my juicing days have abruptly come to an end as I’ve managed to lose not one, but two blender lids! So it seems a good excuse to upgrade my juicing gadgets. My bridesman, Chris swears by his Nutri Bullet so this is on my birthday list for September.

With my healthy lifestyle in mind I’m looking ahead to January 2015 when I’ll be able to buy a new cookbook by Deliciously Ella. (As a cookbook junkie I love any excuse to buy a new one.) In the meantime I love looking at her recipe ideas and creations on Instagram or her blog. While I can’t exclusively follow her food philosophy as there are things I simply don’t want to give up; I like to incorporate as much goodness into my family’s diet so I’m always looking for inspiration.

I moved back to Birmingham 15 years ago after years of living in Manchester, Spain and Italy. Everyone thought I was nuts but to me it’s home! It has such a bad rep with its Spaghetti Junction jams, ugly 60s architecture and thick accent. However it’s not that bad. Honest. The buildings are dramatically improving (see the award winning library), cultural events are numerous and foodie options are many and varied. A special mention goes to the independent Yorks Bakery & Café. They make food that makes your taste buds tingle just by looking at it and the service is great. I’m always looking for an excuse to go back!

Well, I’m saying ciao for now as I’m getting married tomorrow to my gorgeous bloke so I won’t be around for a few weeks! If you want a sneak peak at the Isles wedding feel free to follow me on Twitter or Instagram.

So what do you think? What are you coveting at the moment?

Soon to be married hugs!
