These beautiful, non-traditional wedding gowns are the epitome of pared back, refined elegance so I’m super excited to be able to introduce you to Saja Wedding…
Located in downtown NYC, Saja Wedding is owned and managed by designer Yoo Lee who launched the Saja label back in 2000. Noticing how amazingly well her off-white dresses were selling, she made the momentous decision in 2008 to rebrand as Saja Wedding and focus solely on designing and creating these ethereal wedding gowns.
“It was the best decision I have ever made,” says Yoo Lee. “I get to be involved with one of the most precious moments in our clients’ lives and I feel very privileged.”
I just adore the stylish simplicity of the new Saja Wedding 2015 collection. It’s incredibly attractive and effortlessly exquisite. There’s nothing excessive, there’s nothing brash or attention seeking – each and every design is perfectly balanced and wonderfully restrained. It’s an absolutely sublime collection.
“This collection strips back the design to the essence of the bride’s beauty by making the design simple, effective, romantic and ethereal,” explains Yoo Lee. “I strive for perfection in design by making the wearer the focal point of the dress and not allowing the dress to become too busy. I want our brides to feel not just beautiful but also at their ease because they feel so happy and comfortably with their gown that they can truly enjoy their entire wedding day.”
And how could you not enjoy your wedding day wearing one of these heavenly gowns? I am head over heels for the soft sleeves, the delightful necklines and those amazingly alluring backs. The flowing skirts or those that just fall from the waist are impeccably cut and the choice of fabrics and embellishments couldn’t be more perfect.
None of the gowns in the Saja Wedding 2015 collection is pure white – they range instead from softest eggshell to off-whites and this is a result of Yoo Lee’s love of natural light and her understanding that off-whites can be so much more flattering against the skin. To my mind, this also gives the gowns a real heirloom feel too – that stark bright white newness is gone and something much more appealing and long-lasting is there instead.
“Creating something that is simple yet interesting is the hardest design because you simply cannot hide any flaws,” says Yoo Lee. “Yet when it’s accomplished, it’s the most rewarding thing. Our wedding dresses provide a quiet wow factor that our brides just adore and I love that.”
I couldn’t agree more and I can easily imagine these wedding gowns being worn by brides who want a delicate, graceful wedding day look.
