There are no strict and hard rules you have to play by to make your wedding officially 'vintage'. Vintage doesn't have to mean original vintage, and many Brides these days are opting for the perfect alternative in a 'vintage style' frock for their big day. On the other hand, there is such an appeal to wearing an original vintage frock – a creation that is steeped in history and that can evoke a sense of romantic nostalgia. But often, original vintage frocks are cut to smaller sizes to suit the body-shapes that were more popular back in their time. Beautiful aren't they? Oh to have a pop at trying on a whole load of wedding dresses again!
Now I have to admit to first discovering this fabulous company back in November last year, when I started writing for Love My Dress, but I've been saving it up to share with as many new readers as possible, and according to Google, reader numbers keep increasing (thank you!) so here we go! :) I've also been trying to pin owners Laura and Emma down for an interview sometime, but these two ladies are pretty busy either exhibiting, re-fitting out their fabulous boutique, or providing top notch service to their clients (they shut up shop completely for each and every client consultation, ensuring you 100% attention) and well, I really didn't want to keep you waiting too much longer!
Prior to their vintage wedding dress venture, owners Laura and Emma were both working in the West End Theatre as costume designers – an experience that has shaped them both into seasoned practitioners when it comes to ensuring their clients look as stunning as can be, and most certainly 'fit for the limelight' on their wedding day.

Laura and Emma can advise you on what they think would suit you, and flatter your shape, during a private consultation. Fabric samples are available at the shop to take away, allowing you to colour match the other all-important wedding-day features.

Consultations and Fittings…
An initial fitting will take place around 5 weeks after your first private consultation, with a 2nd fitting scheduled for around 4 weeks after that (allowing you to book your travel in advance if you are travelling from outside of London). The second fitting provides a fabulous opportunity to discuss accessories; Fur Coat No Knickers can advise on everything from shoes, to head-pieces, jewellery and underwear and also offer a fine selection of 1950's style petticoats, shawls, wraps, shrugs, boas and boleros to complete your vintage look. Sounds like the perfect one-stop-shop for all your vintage wedding day needs to me!
