Bridal Inspiration Board #36 ~ Moroccan Magic…

Well hello Friday! How nice to see you 🙂 I have a lovely set of inspiration boards from Love My Dress regular contributor Michelle Kelly of Pocketful of Dreams, this morning, who was inspired by my latest promotional giveaway with The State of Grace.  I Hope you enjoy these beautiful colours and stylish wedding day ideas. And my lovely people, if you are in need of a wedding photographer, you might want to check back this afternoon, because one of my gorgeous sponsors is giving away a full wedding photography package. Isn't that rather grand of them? 🙂

Over to you Michelle!

Today I thought I would create quite a different inspiration board, one which has been heavily influenced by a certain amazing getaway offer featuring on these very pages.

When I flicked through Annabel's post about the decadent and luxurious Dar Jaguar riad I found myself daydreaming of Moorish architecture, colourful spice markets and soft desert sand dunes.

Moroccan style is absolutely bursting with exotic mystery and whether you are inspired by the Moroccan culture or not I am sure you will appreciate the beautiful aesthetics it provides…

Moroccan style is all about the bright hues, geometric patterns and jewel tones which create such a stark contrast against the sandy desert backdrop.  Take your cue from nature and mix bold brights with muted neutrals for a sophisticated vibe.

There's also such a wide variety of textures to play with, from fabric to wicker, metal to ceramic, wood to glass. Have fun mixing up the textures for eclectic styling.

Lookbook

Of course it is only fitting that I should choose a The State of Grace gown as the bridal look, which I have paired with an antique brass Marguerite bib Necklace by Dannijo at Shopbop.com and Brooke Logan platform sandals from Yoox.

The Ella Moss Mojave maxi dress from Saks 5th Avenue lends a boho-chic vibe to the bridesmaids look, with it's tribal print jersey design in pinks and purples, it is almost reminiscent of those beautiful Moroccan Wedding Blankets which I have featured below.

Moroccan lanterns, either hanging up, lining walkways or decorating your tables will create an exotic candlelight atmosphere.

A handira or Moroccan Wedding Blanket is woven in anticipation of a wedding by the bride's female relatives. Made out of sheep's wool, cotton and linen by Berber women in the Middle Atlas mountains of Northern Morocco. They can take weeks to make and it is believed that during this time the bride's relatives teach her about the birds and the bees as well as the essence of marriage. Once complete the blanket serves as both warmth and protection from evil for the bride, bestowing luck and fertility on the newlyweds. They also look stunningly beautiful and would create amazing backdrops for your ceremony space.

♥  Mix and match bold purple, pink and turquoise colours and textures from the florals to the candle votives for an eclectic and vibrant ambiance

♥  Incorporate henna into the day, perhaps by having a henna artist available to guests during the reception so they can experience this wonderful art. Arabic writing is incredibly beautiful so consider how this could be used across your stationery suite.

Create a relaxing, bedouin-style lounge area with low level-seating, rugs and lots of cushions and draping. The Raj Tent Club is a good source for decorative tents and furniture

For entertainment why not bring in professional belly-dancers to perform an enchanting routine, then get your guests involved in trying it out for themselves.

This mix of patterns, textures and bold colour lends a real sense of glamour and exoticism to the proceedings. One thing's for sure, with Moroccan influences spicing up your wedding day it will be a magnificently vibrant celebration.
