Alice Temperley Launches The Beatrice 2012 Collection…

Just a quick pointer to the discussion post that is drawing in a variety of varied and interesting replies afternoon, it asks the question 'Is asking for money as a wedding gift acceptable?'. You can add your contribution here.

In January this year, I was super lucky enough to have been invited by Alice Temperley to visit her Nottinghill boutique and view her very latest collection, an offering of all things dreamy and whimsical from one of the UK's most talented and sought after designers in bridal wear.  You can read my subsequent blog feature which includes wonderful imagery from Kirsten Mavric here.

Today, I'd like to share with you details of a brand new collection from Temperley; bridal is the fastest growing area of Temperley London, Alice's Temperley's namesake brand name and Alice now produces two full collections a year including retail and wholesale collections. Temperley established her line in bridal wear after marrying her husband Lars von Bennigsen. After her wedding, she received many requests from friends to also create their wedding gowns.

The Beatrice collection is a larger range including favourites from the past years {including the 'Long Jean' – my fave – see a little further down} and new styles that will appeal to a wider audience of brides, all characterized by incredible craftsmanship. I'm delighted to be amongst the first few bloggers across the world to share this collection with you today…

Above, the Estella dress, with small Beatrice belt. How breathtaking is that lace detail on the back? I love the way this dress has been styled with this particular headband.

Alice Temperley on her own designs…

"It is an honour when any woman chooses to wear your clothes, but when you are selected to create their wedding dress, there is no higher privilege. Beatrice 2012 has options for every Temperley Bride – for the decadent church weddings, the barefoot beach bride, to the modern city hall affair.

Each dress has to be the perfect blend of functionality and fantasy; a bride must never feel overwhelmed by her dress but allow them to be the ultimate version of themselves…"

The Miracle dress with Joie wrap – I have tried it on {the wrap that is}. It is luxurious!

The collection features new designs in a variety of shapes, from delicately embellished ethereal gowns to structured full skirt and lace styles. The versatile Avalia dress, inspired by 50’s couture, is a shorter style in sumptuous silk with an emphasized waist and a detachable long skirt, while the Grecian inspired draped Laelia Dress has delicate three-dimensional flower appliqués on the bodice for an exquisite touch.

Embellishments throughout are intricate with hand-applied crystals, stitched embroidery and hand folded flower and ribbon detailing. The collection also features voluminous tulle appliqué skirts, modern structured strapless options, and elongated body skimming silhouettes in luxurious silks and fine French laces, all with the same timeless, feminine and ethereal nature that is the Temperley handwriting.

Temperley Bridal also offers accessories including decadent head pieces and brooches, embellished sashes for the waist and wrists and an expansion of shrug and veil categories in beautiful materials such as rabbit fur and embellished French laces. In addition, each dress in the Beatrice 2012 collection has a delicate blue ‘forget-me-not’ flower embroidery on the inside for the bride’s ‘Something Blue’.
