Well flippedy do! The baby is finally here! A future King! That was history right there in the making at 4.24pm yesterday afternoon in that private clinic in London – seriously, can you imagine the actual scene? But what's all this talk of thunder? We've had none here, um, yet – keeping a close eye on the gathering clouds outside though.
So with a focus on the beautiful city of London, this mornings wedding come's to you from our capital's East side, where Sarah and Dom tied the knot earlier this year, with a ceremony at The Old Marylebone Town Hall, followed by a reception at The Zetter Townhouse.
The couple's photographer was the amazingly talented Joanna Brown, who I chose to work with on my book and that gorgeous dress was a creation by one of my favourite designers (and who made this little blue number), Joanne Fleming. I love how Joanna has captured the completely laid back and fuss-free nature of this wedding…

"We wanted our wedding to be like any party we’d throw; relaxed,
informal and low key. Tradition pretty much went out of the window and
when we found The Zetter Townhouse, it all fell into place. It’s
basically just a beautiful, cozy living room where people could snuggle
up and enjoy the incredible cocktails. We did few of the things you’d expect at a wedding and it got exactly the response we were after; happy, relaxed, slightly tiddly guests.
As for the style of the day, that was easy. I’d already booked Joanna Brown
to capture our day. I saw her at work at a friend’s wedding a couple
of years ago and was blown away – so she was the first person I got in
touch with when we got engaged."
"We knew we wanted something vintage and I’ve always loved wearing 50s style dresses. I spotted a dress by Joanne Fleming
on a blog and fell in love. I booked an appointment and inevitably
ended up with something different, but it was even more perfect than I’d
imagined. I didn’t need to go anywhere else."
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Be
flexible. You never really know what you want until you start and
sometimes something different can be even better than you imagined.
I
think the main thing is if this is the first time you’ve organised
something, go easy on yourself and work out what you’re willing to
compromise on. It’ll make yours (and everyone around you’s) lives way
easier.
One of the trickiest bits was organising the transport back from
the Town Hall to the Zetter. As a Londoner who uses more than her fair
share of black cabs, I wanted a fleet of them to ferry my guests to the
reception. Sounds easy, but it was by far and away the hardest bit to
organise. Finally the wonderful women at ‘Get Taxi’ helped me out and
for no more than the average fare from Marylebone to Clerkenwell, I got
my wish."
What a simply gorgeous, relaxed, cool East London wedding. Huge thanks to the immensely talented and super lovely Joanna Brown for sharing these photographs.
Are there any more London brides reading this feature today? I'd love to hear if you're planning a relaxed day like Sarah and Dom, or something more extravagant perhaps?
With much love,
Annabel
