Hey there weekenders, did you get a chance to see this absolutely beautiful 60 years of marriage post. The photographs have been a huge hit on our Instagram feed, unsurprisingly so.
This morning’s wedding is a more modern affair – Niamh and Flor tied the knot on 1st April 2017 at Farnham Estate Radisson Blu Hotel in Cavan – a venue chosen by the couple because of it’s beauty and proximity to their home. Niamh looked fabulous in her Willowby by Watters gown and Gibson Bespoke cape.
“I loved that my dress was simple while still having beading detail and that it was different to any other dress I had seen. My silk veil was from Gibson Bespoke – it attached to hair piece custom made to go with the cape which was the dream weaver cape, also by Gibson bespoke.”

“Our photographer, Kathy Silke, was so relaxed and lovely, we didn’t feel at all awkward getting our photos taken on the day, and we were not looking forward to that part at all… and we love every photo she took – totally relaxed , not posed, wonderful moments that we love more each time we see them.”
I love the delicacy of that beautiful veil and how Niamh chose to wear it low at the back of her head to showcase her headpiece. Gorgeous.
The bridesmaids looked fabulously glamorous in their sequin tops and full circle skirts. The tops were from TFNC and those gorgeous skirts were from Folkster.
“My bracelet and earrings were from Lindas of Kinsale – which was also where my engagement ring came from.”
“Village Flowers Drumlish are the local florist at my home and they were extremely accommodating.”
The flowergirls wore dresses from high street and online favourite, Next. What sweet little poppets!
“We met when we were working together in 2011 and got engaged in 2015, on Christmas day , when Flor drove five and a half hours to surprise me in the morning. My engagement ring was a beautiful vintage art deco style and this may have influenced the style of our wedding day. The cape from Gibson Bespoke really fitted into that era well also.”
Niamh’s father Michael accompanied her down the aisle for the ceremony to the sound of a piano instrumental mash up of ‘A Thousand Years’, by Christina Peri, and ‘Here Comes The Bride’.
“The favourite part of the day for me was the ceremony – although I have to say, it was also meeting everyone in Murtaghs pub after the Church and in the hotel before the meal and getting to relax and enjoy it all. So, basically, the whole day!”
The couple also hired a videographer. Have you considered this too? Take a look through the videographer pages of our Little Book For Brides if so. There are a number of excellent film makers we recommend.
“Jason of Jason Nolan Wedding films was fantastic on the day. We actually barely noticed him filming and love all the footage he got, the short highlights film is amazing and we wouldn’t change anything about it.”
The bride and groom sourced all the venue décor from Amazon, and raiding for old vintage window frames.
“Our first dance was to Paulo Nutini’s ‘Pencil Full of Lead’ – thanks to the wedding dance lesson we received from Nickys Dance Studio we actually managed to dance to this one. Well, kind of (we should have practiced a little more!)”
“There is nothing I would have changed, except to find a way to make the day last longer.”
