Erin and Stamp tied the knot in June at the beautiful Ash Barton Estate in North Devon.
Nestled in the heart of the beautiful North Devon countryside, Ash Barton is regarded for it’s laid-back atmosphere and easy-going attitude which was perfect for this particular couple who very much wanted to take a DIY approach to their wedding (although big lessons were learned in doing so! See Erin’s ‘words of wedded wisdom’ at the end.
Erin wore a classy halterneck bridal gown by Pronovias and let her bridesmaids choose their own dresses. Enjoy!
Venue & Location
My best friend Hannah, who is launching her own events styling company Kialla Creative next year, helped SO much with flowers, colours and styling etc. She really pushed me to lean into Ash Barton’s wonderful brightness and fun side.
She designed all the boards, table planning etc, it was amazing. She helped pick all the bright flowers, candles etc.
It was a mini festival in our eyes, very DIY, and our friends helped so so much to put it all together, they all really bought it to life. I was so happy with how it came together.
We hired Unity Event Design, who we came across them on the Ash Barton wedding website. We had a few zooms leading up to the wedding but we were on a reduced service where they were just hired for on the day planning rather then help in the lead up.
The Dress
I wore a Pronovias dress, from an amazing boutique in London called The Bridal Rogue Gallery. They were great and are located in such a lovely part of London. I’d 100% recommend them.
I always knew I wanted something simple and high neck. It’s my favourite shape, its what I feel most comfortable in. This dress had that and then the beautiful back also which I loved.
My veil was also from Bridal Rogue Gallery. Scent wise, I wore the Rose perfume by Le Labo. My pearl earrings were by Sarah Dorans – a family friend, who also designed our rings.
My hair and makeup artist was Carly Hanson.
The Ceremony
My mum and cad walked me down the aisle to the sound of ‘Collide’ by Tiana Major9.
We had two readings both of which were songs and both had really beautiful lyrics that meant a lot to us. They were ‘The Light’ by Common and Baz Luhrmann’s ‘Everybody’s Free’.
Photography
Our photographer was Alex Dimos. It’s hard to put into words how incredible Alex was on our wedding day. Not only was he such a lovely energy and presence throughout the entire day, it truly felt like he was part of the family for the day.
Most importantly, the pictures are unlike any wedding pictures I’d ever seen, though I’m probably biased!
I was reluctant to have anything too forced or staged and he captured so many insane and magical moments, every picture is a little bit of art. I could not recommend him more.
The Reception
We loved the DIY nature of Ash Barton, we really really did but on reflection, it would have been amazing not to have worried about every last detail of prep before during and after.
Even down to cleaners of the venue, the house it self. It was a lot and without our friends helping SO much we would have been screwed.
Our florist was Twigs Flowers who were lovely. They were very accommodating and did the bridal flowers bridesmaids and all the buttonholes.
I also used a floral wholesalers which provided an additional £600 worth of Flowers that Hannah and Tyra then laid out in the venues.
Our main cake was created by Humming Bird Bakery but our family members also made cakes.
As gifts for our guests, we provided personalised shot glasses from The Knot Shop
