I’m so happy to be introducing you to Bijoux de Chagall, a small husband-and-wife business creating the most beautifully handcrafted, sustainable engagement rings, wedding rings and jewellery. Bijoux de Chagall’s jewellery is inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau, two eras that celebrated individuality, beauty and the poetry of nature. Julia recently reached out to introduce herself and her work, and I was instantly smitten. Julia, could you share a little of your story – how did your journey into jewellery design begin, and what led to the creation of Bijoux de Chagall?
It all started with a fascination of the beauty and the shimmer of a gemstone I’ve got passed by my family and the way jewellery can tell a story without words.
I had always been drawn to art and design, I’ve studied Art and worked as a Graphic Designer for many years but it wasn’t until I made my first ring – I realised how deeply fulfilling it was to create something both personal and lasting. That moment planted the seed for what would one day become Bijoux de Chagall.
My journey into jewellery making began with experimenting with different materials – silver, gold, semi-precious stones, and enamel – teaching myself techniques from online courses, workshops, and countless hours of practice at my workbench. Each mistake became a lesson, and each success fuelled my love for this craft. What began as a hobby soon grew into a profession.

Your designs are deeply inspired by art movements like the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau. What is it about these eras that speaks to you and continues to influence your work?
My designs are deeply inspired by the Pre-Raphaelites and Art Nouveau, eras that celebrated artistic freedom, individuality and the intimate poetry of nature.
I’m drawn to their romantic idealism, where art feels alive and authentic. Like them, I believe beauty lies in emotion, imperfection, and the organic rhythm of the natural world.
Through my jewellery, I try to capture that same spirit and belief in freedom – where art unbound by trends, driven instead by creativity and imagination. Like the artists of those times, I strive to create without restraint, allowing intuition and nature to shape my vision.
You describe your jewellery as ‘soulfully handcrafted’ – can you tell us what that means to you personally and how it reflects in the way you create each piece?
‘Soulfully handcrafted’ means that every piece of jewellery is made with intention, love, and positive energy.
I pour a part of myself into each design, shaping it with care and mindfulness for the person who will wear it after.
It’s a deeply personal and imaginative process – it’s about creating with intention and heart, allowing each design to hold its own spirit and story.
Could you tell us about your creative process, from the first spark of inspiration to the moment a finished ring or pair of earrings leaves your studio?
My creative process begins with imagination – a spark that can come from art, history, or the simple poetry of everyday life…
I am often sketching various ideas sitting outside in cafes on small pieces of paper and refining them until they feel alive. Many of my designs are inspired by vintage aesthetics, yet I always reinterpret them with a modern twist.
Each piece evolves and finishes naturally at the bench, guided by my vision, until it carries that perfect balance of timeless beauty and contemporary spirit.
You work alongside your husband Allan as a family-run business. How does this collaboration shape the spirit and energy of Bijoux de Chagall?
My husband Allan and I are true soulmates and our love for each other and connection are at the heart of everything we do. Working together feels completely natural; we inspire and balance each other.
That harmony flows into our work, shaping the spirit of Bijoux de Chagall with warmth, romantic feelings, creativity, and shared passion. Every piece we create carries a little of that love…

I’ve often asked to create something truly special – not just a trendy engagement or wedding ring, but a piece that feels deeply personal.
