Love My Dress recommended Christy Photography gathered a talented team of British wedding creatives at Thornbridge Hall for this romantic spring editorial, captured on both digital and 35mm film and inspired by delicate lace, softly gathered flowers and the beautiful old-world detail of this sublime Grade II listed stately home and Peak District wedding venue.
Christy has always been drawn to pale blue tones and light-filled interiors, so the Music Room at this beautiful venue became the natural starting point for this collection of images. Its mirrors, gilded detailing and tall windows were paired with modern, romantic bridal fashion, locally grown spring flowers and a beautifully dressed table of embroidered linen, lace-edged menus, textured glassware and nude taper candles.
The Great Hall brought a very different backdrop, with its dark timber panelling and generous floral urns creating the setting for a candlelit ceremony. Those same flowers were later moved and used again around the cake and signage, a sensible idea for couples looking to get more from their wedding flowers across the day.
The weather outside was wet and misty, but Christy still made use of the gardens and stone exterior, photographing the couple beneath a transparent umbrella and as they ran through the rain. Alongside the more composed portraits are plenty of natural moments, close-up details and a small collection of photographs captured on film.

Light & Airy Wedding Day Aesthetic
My photography style has always leaned towards a light and airy aesthetic, and I’ve always been drawn to soft blue tones, they bring such a sense of calm elegance to my work. When searching for the perfect venue for this shoot, I intentionally looked for somewhere with a vintage character that would complement that palette, and I was so pleased to discover Thornbridge Hall.
It’s a venue I truly admire, with its timeless charm and beautifully curated spaces that felt perfectly aligned with my vision.
From the very beginning, the team there were incredibly welcoming, friendly, and supportive throughout both the planning process and the shoot itself, which made the whole experience even more special.
The concept naturally evolved into something with a refined editorial feel, allowing me to blend that light, romantic style with a more polished, fashion-inspired edge that worked seamlessly with the setting. Altogether, it became a shoot that felt effortlessly elegant, and a true reflection of the style I love to create.
For the Music Room, the colour palette felt really elegant, mostly blue and white, with mirrors lining the walls. During the site visit before the shoot, I suggested to the stylist that a creamy cloth and light pink candles would complement the space beautifully, especially against the wooden table.
Because the room is so light overall, the natural light bounced back onto the models and created a soft, flattering glow. In this space, I mixed both candid and editorial shots.
For the editorial images, I made sure to use every corner of the room, placing the models in a way that felt artistic while highlighting the furniture and creating a sense of intimacy, almost like a quiet love story. They really enjoyed the process, and the final images feel almost like romantic paintings.
For the candid moments, I encouraged natural interaction and movement, letting them connect in their own way. This helped capture genuine emotion and a softer, more relaxed atmosphere.
The outdoor area is just as beautiful – the stone-coloured buildings surrounded by greenery make it such an ideal place for a wedding. It was raining and quite foggy though, so we didn’t spend too much time outside. I did bring in a transparent umbrella, which worked nicely in the setting.
The models were really into it – they were happily running around despite the rain, which gave me some lovely, natural expressions. This part of the shoot is mostly candid, showing how a couple can still get beautiful moments in the garden and around the front of the venue.
I also really loved focusing on the details. The jewellery and stationery added so much to the overall look. Some pieces came from the suit company, some from the models, and a few were my own. The light coming in from the windows kept everything soft and bright, which tied the whole feel of the shoot together nicely.
In the Great Hall, the setup was styled like a ceremony. I adjusted the LED lighting to match the ambient light in the room, and with the candles and flowers at the front, it created a warm, romantic mood, perfect for that sense of anticipation.
The models stood together as if they were in the middle of getting married. I experimented with different angles here, shooting from above as they danced, from the side as he held her, and capturing quieter moments while they sat and talked.
The Styling
The tablescape was designed to complement the softness and elegance of The Music room which is an incredibly beautiful space. At the site visit it was so important that the intricate coving and luxurious detailing inspired the design. The room had such beautiful natural light, so the tableware was kept soft and understated to complement the space.
White embellished table linen kept the lightweight feel but added a luxurious touch and reflected the rooms delicate details. This was layered with lace effect plateware and textured glassware to add depth while maintaining a sense of lightness.
Nude taper candles added a touch of colour and romance, alongside seasonal florals arranged in a timeless yet classic way that didn’t overwhelm. For the ceremony in The Great Hall, large urns were filled with abundant arrangements in rich, tonal hues that complemented the wooden panelling.
These were styled in an organic, flowing way, softened with draped fabric, and then repurposed for the cake and signage styling along with additional lace and satins to add luxury. The flowers were seasonal and locally grown by the florist, adding a natural touch.
To keep the styling light and airy across all areas we chose to print signage on soft fabrics and this worked both against the areas with dark panelling to add contrast, as well as in the lighter spaces such as The Music Room. With two spaces so different in style, I wanted to create something that worked for both bringing them together as one cohesive wedding story.
The Flowers
Thornbridge Hall Framed by the quiet grandeur of the setting, North & Flower’s spring florals bring a sense of softness and natural poetry to the scene. Gently unfurling petals and organic shapes feels both refined and effortlessly natural. Each stem has been thoughtfully chosen to celebrate spring’s fleeting beauty and complement the space.
The bouquet is composed of delicate hellebores, tulips and ranunculus in soft tones, feels both abundant and effortlessly gathered. The natural shape and movement harmonise perfectly with the surrounding landscape.
The tablescape, set against an elegant, light-filled interior, feels like a breath of fresh spring air. Low, abundant arrangements of softly ruffled tulips to delicate narcissi and hellebore are woven with fresh foliage to create a naturally flowing runner that invites both intimacy and conversation.
The restrained palette of creamy whites and gentle greens is elevated by the warm glow of slender taper candles, adding a subtle sense of romance. Thoughtfully styled yet wonderfully uncontrived, the floral design capture spring at its most enchanting, a celebration of renewal, beauty and the art of letting nature lead.
