Documentary Wedding Photographer in Sussex & Beyond
I’m Danni — a documentary wedding photographer based in Sussex, capturing weddings with a quiet, thoughtful approach that allows the day to unfold naturally.
For me, photography has always been about storytelling. Not staging moments, but noticing them — the way your hands find each other during the ceremony, the laughter that spills out during speeches, the fleeting glances, the big embraces and the small, often unseen interactions that make a wedding day so meaningful.
My work is rooted in honesty and connection. I photograph weddings as they are — full of emotion, personality and atmosphere — without interrupting the flow of the day. I’ll gently guide when needed, but mostly I step back, allowing you to be fully present with the people you love.
Many of the couples I work with tell me they feel a little camera shy, and that’s something I understand deeply. It’s one of the reasons I approach weddings the way I do — quietly, unobtrusively, and with a calm presence that helps people feel at ease, but always on hand to be your hype woman if you need it. The more comfortable you feel, the more natural your photographs will be.
With over 15 years of experience, I bring not only a documentary eye but also a steady, reassuring presence. I’m often described as feeling more like a guest than a supplier — there when you need me, but never in the way.
Based in Sussex, I photograph weddings across the UK and beyond, from relaxed countryside celebrations to elegant house parties and coastal gatherings.
If you’re drawn to photography that feels real, emotive and timeless — images that reflect not just how your day looked, but how it felt — I would love to hear from you.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do you take formal group photos?
Yes, definitely!
While my style is largely documentary, I’m always happy to capture a handful of organised group photographs — usually the ones parents and grandparents really appreciate.
In our meeting the week before the wedding, I ask for your list of group shots, so on the day I can organise them super quickly, while keeping things relaxed.
What happens if it rains on our wedding day?
This is definitely one of the most common wedding photography questions in the UK!
A little rain never stops a wedding from being beautiful. We’ll always have a plan for indoor photographs if needed, and sometimes rain actually creates some lovely atmospheric images.
The most important thing is that you enjoy your day — great moments happen whatever the weather.
What if we’re camera shy?
This is one of the questions I get asked all the time.
The good news is that most couples feel exactly the same way before their wedding! My approach is relaxed and documentary-led, which means you won’t spend hours posing. As someone who is naturally camera shy, I really understand how you feel, and a really important part of what I do on a wedding day is to help you and your guests feel relaxed around the camera, so you can try and forget I am there!
I blend into the background and capture moments as they naturally happen, stepping in with gentle guidance only when needed. Most couples tell me they forget the camera is even there.
How long after the wedding will we receive our photos?
I know couples are excited to see their photographs, so I aim to deliver your fully edited wedding gallery within around 10–14 days.
Your photographs will be delivered via a private online gallery where you can easily download your images and share them with family and friends
Will you travel outside of Sussex to photograph my wedding?
I live in sunny Sussex and photograph weddings all over the country and the world, have a car and a passport, and WILL TRAVEL! As a documentary wedding photographer, I love to go to new places and meet new people and particularly love to work at new wedding venues. I do charge for travel past 50 miles from my home – the cost is agreed before the wedding day, to cover petrol or train fares. If the venue is far away, the cost of overnight accommodation would be added, usually for the night before to avoid the lottery of traffic jams on this island, and possibly for the night after as well. Usually, the extra cost is not significant. For weddings abroad, the costs would include such things as flights, airport transfers, taxis, accommodation, car rental if needed, and meals. But this isn’t as expensive as it may sound if cheap flights are booked well in advance.
