Hi, I’m Jodie, the heart behind Hampshire-based Everlong Ceremonies. I am an independent wedding celebrant creating fabulous, personal ceremonies for couples who love the outdoors, laughter and doing things their own way. If your idea of a perfect wedding includes windswept beaches, woodland clearings, vineyards at sunset, castle ruins, garden gatherings, or somewhere wonderfully “very you,” then we’re off to a great start.

I love to include handfasting rituals, sand-blending ceremonies, unity candles, or a cheeky unity shot to bring your wedding vibe to life.  I can help to write vows, suggest readings, or even song lyrics, should you wish. Let’s have some fun, do something extraordinary and make your day as magical as you want it to be.

Not only limited to weddings, but I also offer vow renewals, naming ceremonies, elopements, and other ceremonies to celebrate life’s wonderful moments. If you’re in Portsmouth, Southampton, Chichester, or the surrounding areas, I look forward to helping you design your perfect ceremony with all my heart and imagination.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the role of a wedding celebrant?

When a couple chooses to have a celebrant-led ceremony and finds their celebrant, we begin a journey together. I get to know the couple in depth, to the point where friendships often form. I discuss ideas, passions and hobbies and how I can incorporate them into your ceremony. When planning your Hampshire wedding, we talk about all things music, films, books, and ways we can incorporate them into the day. Who your ‘special people’ are and how to include them. I work with couples to create a wedding ceremony that is creative, romantic, funny, or traditional, as you want. I can help write vows, or write them in full if you want me to. I carry out various ceremonial rituals, such as the well-known handfasting or the not-so-well-known Stone Oath or Ring Warming. I can even plan fun rituals such as the Shot Unity ritual or even a Cocktail blending ceremony. It’s entirely up to you what you’d like to include. My role as a Celebrant is to create a ceremony that you and your guests will remember long after your wedding dress is dry-cleaned and the confetti bio-degrades.

Difference between a celebrant and a registrar in the UK?

Registrars are employed by local authorities. They are bound by the set templates and rules set by the Council and are limited to appointment times, including your wedding ceremony. As a Celebrant, I have the freedom to be creative. I will get to know people, listen, and spend time with couples. I have no time constraints, so if your outdoor ceremony in the New Forest or Hampshire gets a little rain just as it’s about to start, we can wait 10 mins for it to pass, or, if a family member is running late, we can wait until they arrive. Your day is my only prerogative, with only you both in mind.

I also work with other suppliers to ensure everyone is aligned. I meet with the venue on the day of the ceremony. I make sure I know where the ceremony space is and how it’s laid out, and I plan ahead and talk it through with you to ensure everyone is happy and calm on the day. I work with wedding planners and photographers, and usually build great relationships with them, so I become your very own directory.

Can a celebrant perform a legally binding marriage in England?

Ah, alas, not yet! We’re working on it. As a collective of celebrants, we are campaigning to legalise celebrant-led ceremonies. It currently sits with parliament, so fingers crossed, one day we will be able to legalise your wedding officially. Typically, couples complete the paperwork at their local registry office before their ceremony, then celebrate fully with their loved ones at a celebrant-led ceremony of their design.
