Maaike is a destination wedding photographer originally from the Netherlands, living in Italy for over 25 years. Together with her partner Damiano, she photographs weddings as a two-photographer team based in Northern Italy.
Drawn to images that feel timeless and authentic, her work focuses on raw, real emotion — never forced and never shaped by fleeting trends. The approach blends gently guided portraits with documentary storytelling: present when direction is needed, invisible when it matters most. Alongside digital, Maaike also photographs on 35mm film, bringing a tactile softness and sense of permanence to each story.
Working as a duo allows every part of the day to be documented fully. While one photographer focuses on the couple, the other captures guests, atmosphere and the quiet in-between moments that so often go unnoticed. Nothing is rushed, nothing is forced.
For elopements and intimate celebrations, Maaike is also available solo.
The team works across Lake Como, Lake Maggiore, Piedmont and the Italian lakes, and is available throughout Italy and Europe.
