About the Venue
The Harty Estate is a barn wedding venue on the coast of Kent, and one of the county’s most loved: Wedding Venue of the Year at the 2025 Kent Wedding Awards and Best Event Venue in the Muddy Stilettos Kent Awards.
A Stunning Waterside Wedding Venue In Kent
Set beside the Swale estuary among wild wetlands, the water is an ever-present part of your day. The estate feels like the edge of the world despite being just an hour from London, with nature reserves either side, farmland all around and perhaps the biggest skies in Kent. It’s been in the same family for over 25 years, and hosting people’s happiest days is what they love to do.
If you’re after a wedding that’s rustic, relaxed but still feels understatedly elegant, there’s a lot to love here: the wedding spaces are exclusively yours, with characterful barns, a 16th century private pub, food born from the estate, accommodation for over 75 guests, and a friendly team committed to making this the single best day of your life.
We couldn’t have asked for a more magical wedding experience! If you’re looking for a wedding venue that combines elegance, warmth, and top-notch service, this is it. We’re so grateful to have chosen The Harty Estate – it was the perfect backdrop for the best day of our lives! – Caitlin Breakey, Bride
Exclusive Barn Weddings
There are three ceremony spaces to choose from, welcoming between 15 and 260 guests, and all with water views.
The Hop Barn is warm and rustic, with exposed brick, Kentish hops overhead, oak beams adorned with fairy lights and French doors that open straight onto a waterside terrace.
If you’d rather marry outside, the Oak Gazebo looks over the Rose Garden to the estuary, and hosts ceremonies from April to October.
Then there’s the Spring Barn, with light pouring through vast estuary-facing windows under a cathedral-height oak frame. As ceremony turns to celebration, the large in-room bar, lounge and festoon-lit courtyard with a glowing brick fireplace bring the party to up to 350 evening guests.
There’s also a 16th century private pub and beautiful waterside terraces and gardens for your drinks reception and beyond.
Both sides of the wedding party get their own beautifully appointed preparation room; spacious and with everything you need to get aisle-ready.
When the day winds down, the estate has onsite wedding guest accommodation to sleep 75 guests across 11 individually styled guest rooms and five self-catering cottages, so the celebration carries on over a Kentish breakfast the next morning.
Tailored Wedding Packages For 15-350
Customisable wedding packages help you create the day that’s perfect for you, from small and intimate celebrations to twilight ceremonies and large wedding parties of 350. Two-day weddings are also a favourite, with a laid-back get-together the evening before, the big day itself, then breakfast the morning after.
The team has also helped bring numerous cultural weddings to life, always adaptable and always respectful of how to incorporate your traditions.
Quality Wedding Dining
Award-winning chefs bring you a wealth of wedding food options to choose from, with dishes inspired by produce from the kitchen garden, beef from the family farm and ingredients from the estate and across Kent. You can choose from a three-course wedding breakfast with three choices per course, easy-going sharing platters, exciting evening options and much more besides, while the bars keep the celebrations flowing with quality Kentish tipples, branded favourites and creative non-alcoholic options.
Personal Wedding Planning
Behind all the joy of your day is a warm, experienced team who’ll support you the whole way through, with up to three personal wedding planning meetings, a dedicated planning portal, and a menu tasting evening for every full day wedding. At your final planning meeting, you’ll meet your Venue Host for the day, who quietly makes sure it all comes together perfectly. On the morning of your wedding, a wedding assistant will be helping set up your décor, meaning you can relax and know your special day is in good hands from the first moment to the last goodbye.
