Glamour is a Retro Russian Bride & Her Short & Sassy Dress…

Love My Dress has often been referred to as the UK Wedding Blog to gain inspiration for vintage weddings.  And that we are indeed.  But we're about so much more than that too.

It's true, that the 'real weddings' that feature on our little Style Diary have to have a certain something about them.  And that 'certain something' almost always translates as 'glamour'.  Glamour is described as 'the quality of fascinating, alluring, or attracting, especially by a combination of charm and good looks', and 'magic or enchantment' and even 'excitement, adventure'…

There has been a flurry of supremely glamorous weddings submitted to Love My Dress of late, and this has to be one of our favourites.  This is the wedding of Ksenia and Igor, from Russia, who got married in St Petersburg on a beautiful day in July 2009.  I have chosen to feature this wedding because I think it is fun, quirky, stylish and inspirational but above all, completely and totally glamorous.

It doesn't matter where the Bride and Groom got married, or indeed where you, as the reader, are located right now.  What matters is that this story delights and inspires you somehow; Were you thinking of wearing a bold colour on your wedding day, but weren't' too sure?  Were you wanting to wear an incredibly stylish statement head-piece, but didn't know if you could pull it off?  Have you looked everywhere for that sassy, short wedding dress but haven't been able to find it?  Print this page out and take it along to your local dressmaker/seamstress and tell them you want a dress like Ksenia's.  Because, that's exactly what she did…

"The dress was custom made, I just showed some pictures that inspired me to Irina and it all went from there. To me this is a very special dress: it's bright and cheerful – perfectly reflecting our relationship (and what should the wedding dress be about otherwise?  🙂 It stands out among the typical wedding dresses and probably is a little bit crazy – but that's what I see my personality to be like too…"

The moment they first met! Ksenia's amazing veil is also by Irina Tantsurina.  Igor's suit was Paul Smith…

A retro-limousine ferried Ksenia and Igor between their three venues for the day.  And Photographs came first!

"Photography was a very important part of our wedding; we dedicated approximately four hours of our day just for private shooting with our photographer and had a lot of fun during this time! We were not feeling particularly nervous, because we considered our wedding to be a cheerful celebration of our relationship and didn't expect any major changes to happen after it. Therefore we decided to enjoy as much as we can as such an event happens only once in a lifetime and is something to be always remembered with a smile"…

What a brilliant attitude and approach to it all! I love it…

You could be fooled for thinking these photographs were a staged fashion shoot, but not! Ksenia and Igor just know how to pull off an amazing shot.  Totally vogue and fabulous!

"The Retro theme was one of the leitmotifs of our wedding: reflected in the dress, choice of transport, Retro party ( 60's to 90's music was played and the dress code for the guests was strictly explicit retro)…"

Thank you so very much to Bride Ksenia, and to Ksenia's fabulous Photographer Zhanna, who has been so incredibly helpful.

Be inspired everyone!
