Vintage Twee ~ Vintage Inspired Wedding Favours and Table Decor…

Last week I received an email from a lovely lady called Joanne Linder.  Manchester based Joanne has recently set up her own Etsy Shop (and if you are not yet familiar with Etsy, read here!), selling pretty vintage inspired wedding favours and hand-crafted table decor.

"I recently decided to embark on a life long dream of pursuing a career as an artist ~ something I have wanted to do since I was a child but I never got the opportunity to study art at school and so didn't follow this route when I entered work.  I have spent the past few months designing and creating a range of handcrafted, vintage-inspired table decor for special occasions such as weddings, parties and bridal showers."

And I for one simply adore Joanne's designs. Let's start with these pretty 'Birdsong Heartstrings Coasters', crafted using vintage music sheets and imagery.

Each coaster features a section of music sheet and a picture of a dove, surrounded by pink flowers, which have been accentuated with sprinkles of gold glitter. The coasters have been painted a shade of metallic gold on the front and reverse and both sides have been coated with a layer of clear varnish for a satin effect seal and finish. Wouldn't these look sweet at your afternoon tea party – they would double up beautifully as wedding favours too! Just $12 (although Joanne is UK based, Etsy prices are always quoted in US Dollars, but for information, $12 equates to about £8 for a pack fo 4)…

Perhaps my favourite design is this beautiful vintage inspired wedding guest-book and keepsake box.  Guests write the pages of your story and store them away in this keepsake box for you as an everlasting memento.

As Joanne's Etsy Shop explains, 'this beautifully altered box is in the shape of a book and has been decoupaged in romantic vintage music sheets, with songs about love and marriage. The front of the book contains a vintage image of a bride and groom and her ring and veil have been subtly accentuated with a sprinkle of gold glitter. They are framed by a string of ivory pearls and a lovely pale pink flower at the bottom corner of the picture.  Take a peek inside….reveal excerpts from a 1940s love letter on the inside cover and an image of a lovely rose on the base.'  Just $40/£25…

I love these fun Alice in Wonderland fortune tellers; they make pretty table decoration and an ideal way to keep your guests occupied in between courses during your wedding breakfast or afternoon tea.  Each fortune teller has been printed with vintage images of Alice, The Mad Hatter, the March Hare and the Cheshire Cat. They unfold to reveal fortunes and riddles hidden under the numbers, as quoted by Lewis Carroll's most popular characters.  Each pack contains 8 fortune tellers – $12.00/£8 per pack of 8…

These tea-cup rose charms are so sweet and would add a real touch of vintage prettiness to any afternoon tea-party ~ $8.00/£5 for a pack of four…

Joanne told me "I source as many vintage items as possible to create my items (such as lace, pearls, jewellery, antique music sheets and romantic imagery) and have a selection of very unique favours and table accessories which I am currently trying to promote to brides out there.  My work is inspired by my British heritage, love for tea and the style and classic romance from a bygone era and fits really well with the tea-party/Alice in Wonderland and vintage themed weddings which are popular right now."

I adore this little number called 'Pillow Talk' - a romantic favour box, hand crafted from a 1940s love letter from a girl named Anna, to her soldier sweetheart during the war, how romantic- – and how beautifully unique.  Each box has been wrapped in different parts of the writing and features a photo of the couple taken from the actual letter itself. The words across the boxes read: Cherish, Adore, Hope and Wish ~ perfect for a vintage themed wedding, shower or even as gift boxes for jewelry and only £2.25 each.

Etsy is a wonderful way of purchasing from designers with real passion and creative talent, and who don't need to charge sill fees as they mostly work from home.  Do go and visit the Vintage Twee Etsy Shop for more information and to view more of Joanne's pretty and whimsical designs – they are each of them so lovely.  You can email Joanne on [email protected] and you can also follow Joanne's blog.

We'll be keeping a close eye on Joanne's pretty designs from here on …
