Bridal Inspiration Boards #7 ~ Darling Blush Pink May Mood Board…

Happy Friday everyone 🙂 Did you see this pretty pink photoshoot yesterday, styled by the lovely Kate Fletcher, with all her gorgeous original vinage props that she has available for hire?  In keeping with the pastel palet, I thought I'd share this Bridal Inspiration Board with you today, from my friend and London Wedding Planner Josie Hendrick of Savoir Weddings…

As a wedding planner and stylist I spend a lot of my time collecting images and looking for visual inspiration for my brides. It's definitely something I'd recommend brides to be do pretty much from the start of their wedding planning.

Flicking through magazines and scouring blogs is definitely good for inspiration but it can get a little overwhelming. That's why I'm such a fan of Pinterest. Any image you find on the web you can 'pin' and then add to your online mood boards. You have to make sure you find the original source to pin but it's totally awesome for collecting images that inspire you.

Whenever I start a mood board I begin by adding everything and anything that works with the design concept. So for this darling blush may board I basically just looked for any pretty, girlie, pastel images. I had loads of images at one point. Then you just got to be brutal with yourself. Anything that doesn't quite fit you get rid of. Not because a wedding has to be styled perfectly but because otherwise you'll never be able to make up your mind.

This is especially useful if you're torn between two very different styles for instance. Collect images, and then when you go through them and get rid of those you don't love, see what you're left with. Whatever style dominates is clearly the one you prefer and so should lead your wedding styling. That's not to say you can't mix it up, just that it's good to have a guiding style concept in mind to help you focus and you buy/hire things in for your wedding…

Bridal Inspiration Board, Blush Pink

So on to this board.  I was going for complete unadulterated playful femininity. All about the pastel pinks, neutrals and mint greens. Perfect for a outdoor May wedding, maybe in a marquee in grounds of a beautiful, but not too refined country house. Or in a bright hall in an old Georgian house, all high ceilings and chandeliers.

The key thing about this look is that it's super pretty but has a sense of playful humour. Not too formal. I kind of like the idea of the love seat being outside, under a big weeping willow or huge oak tree. It's a place to eat cake pops, very Kirsten Dunst in Sophia Coppola's Marie Antoinette. And the short flirty bridesmaid's dresses fit in with this well and are a good contrast to the long bridal maxi dress.

The good thing about this style is that it's really versatile. It works in lots of venues and with different colour palettes.  The key words to define this style for me are feminine, pretty, and fun.
