Are you back to the grindstone today? If so let us ease you into the working week with the lovely wedding of Khory and Lauren, who tied the knot on 31st August last year at The Grange in Hertfordshire.
"We wanted to keep the theme quite English and clean, in keeping with the venue, but with hints of vintage to reflect our own style."

“Khory and I met at secondary school at age 16 and have been together for 13 years! We got engaged July 2012, and were engaged for a year. Khory proposed with a cushion-cut sapphire and diamond ring that he designed himself, with a little help from my mum!
It was really important to me to get ready on our wedding morning at my childhood home with my mum, sisters and bridesmaids. We also didn’t want our family and friends to have to travel far, so we decided to get married at a local venue. We had a church wedding where Khory grew up in Croxley Green, then our reception at The Grange. The Grange is a beautiful 14th century country house in Hertfordshire, with a lovely marquee attached."

“My dress was by Jesús Peiró, purchased from White Mischief Bridal in Henfield, Sussex. It was the complete opposite of anything I ever thought I’d like! It was strapless with a tulle skirt – exactly what I didn’t want, but I loved it instantly! The detachable beaded cami clinched it too – I loved that it could change from day to night.
I chose a cathedral two tier veil from Augusta Jones. I’m so glad I picked a long veil as the veil shots that Claudia took turned out to be some of our favourites!”
“When it came to stationery I couldn’t find anything that was 100% what I wanted, so I made my own. I ordered the card and envelopes from Ebay, and envelope seals and string from Etsy. I downloaded free templates and fonts, then got printing! Our place cards were wooden hearts, again from Ebay, and our seating plan was displayed on a mirror.
I picked a local florist called Amie Bone. I gave them a completely open brief in terms of type of flowers, I just wanted the colours to be light pink, neutral and cream, and for them to feel very natural.”
“I had six bridesmaids (my two sisters, two of my cousins, and my two best friends) They picked their own dresses – a mix of high street (Miss Selfridge, Dorothy Perkins) and online (ASOS and Ebay!) The only request I had was that they were all nude/peach/neutral in colour, I wasn’t fussed about length, fabric or style, I just wanted it to be a dress they loved. I loved how it turned out – mismatched perfection! "
I love this pretty shot of the maids dresses hanging all in a row – and those lovely dress hangers!
“Khory is a very sharp dresser, and knew very early on what type of suit he wanted. He chose a grey Double Breasted Prince of Wales check suit from Suit Supply, which was tailored to fit him perfectly.”
“We decorated the marquee with homemade and Ebay-sourced bunting, used a vintage suitcase for our cards, and had a polaroid guest book table."
“Our favours were little jam jar pin-cushions, painstakingly handmade by my mum and her friend. We filled them with fruit pips, which were my Dad’s favourite sweet.”
“Our photographer was Claudia Rose Carter. From the first conversation over the phone it was clear we’d made the right choice in picking Claudia to shoot our wedding, and she was the first thing we booked after setting a date. After we did our pre-wedding shoot, we just knew our wedding day photos would be perfect – she didn’t miss a single moment!
Ben of The London Wedding Film Co. was a last minute decision! We weren’t sure if our budget would stretch to cover a videographer, but after watching Ben’s work we made it happen!”
“My sisters took care of my ‘something’s – my something old was my Dad’s silver cross which they attached to my bouquet, my something new was Chanel Chance perfume to wear on the day, my something borrowed were my little sister’s diamond studs, and my something blue was a beautiful Florrie Mitton garter. These were my only accessories as I wanted to keep everything quite simple and let the dress and veil do the talking!”
“A friend of a friend did my make-up, and my usual hairdresser did my hair. I wanted my hair in natural waves, and for my make-up to be natural but with a smokey eye.”
"My Uncle walked me down the aisle to Canon in D, by Pachelbel, played on the organ. The Bride and Groom exit was then to ‘It Must Be Love’ by Madness, again played on the organ – the organist loved the challenge of playing a modern song!"
"We had two readings during our wedding – Khory’s brother read 'Love is patient, love is kind' (1 Corinthians 13:4–8a) and my sister read a poem called ‘The Future’ by Emma Salmon. We picked these readings simply for the significance of their words.”
"A friend made our cakes. We went for a very clean and simple 3 tier Victoria sponge, and then we each picked our favourite cakes (Jamaica Ginger Cake for Khory, and Carrot Cake for me!) to sit either side of the main cake. I then made some really simple lace doily heart toppers."
“Our DJs were The Wedding Smashers and they definitely lived up to their name! We met up with one of the DJs beforehand to go through must-plays and genres we wanted covered.
For our first dance we chose ‘Is this love’ by Bob Marley. We didn’t want a traditional first dance song, and this song suited us perfectly. We also wanted a song that everybody knew so that they could all share the moment.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
“My words of wisdom for future brides is to really narrow down what you want your day to be like – there are just so many options and sources of inspiration out there that you can really get overwhelmed by too much choice! My Pinterest boards went from containing 100s of images to just a few after a huge cull! Write a list of exactly how you see your day and what’s important to you both – and keep re-visiting it throughout the planning process.
I don’t think there’s anything we would change. Like everyone says, everything turns out fine in the end, so we would probably just tell ourselves to enjoy the process and relax a bit more as everything went so smoothly, we needn’t have worried.“
