This is the time of year when  us ladies start to think about pulling out our best sparkly jewellery, in preparation for the rounds of festive parties and family/friendly get-togethers.  I always think it’s nice to be able to treat yourself and add to your collection of jewellery at this time of year too.  But before your roll your eyes and think ‘we can’t all afford to do that!’, may I mention two words to you?  ‘Glitzy Secrets‘….

Glitzy Secrets are one of the most wonderful businesses in this industry that I know, and it’s founder and Managing Director is one of the nicest. I really mean that.  Victoria and her team have supported Love My Dress from the start and I love how committed Victoria is to her customer and client.

Victoria sent me these photographs recently – which are the collaborative result of a photoshoot with a team of really great creatives.  The brief was to showcase some of the latest designs available at Glitzy Secrets through a set of very glamorous, 1920s inspired images.   Victoria told me more…

‘Our aim was to recreate an elegant vintage style with a subtle warm festive feel to showcase our accessories in a different setting. Rather than opting for a traditional bridal look, we wanted to achieve an opulent vintage elegance. Almost like a Christmas gathering at Downton Abbey!’

‘It’s always an absolute joy to work with photographer Emma Griffin. Her work is captivating and tells an amazing visual story. We’re always on the same page when we work together and when Emma suggested Trereife House in Cornwall for the venue, I took one look and knew it would be perfect.  Emma told me she wanted to use soft lighting and candle light to give a film-like effect so she set a light up letter from Say it With Lights in the back ground for a subtle glow which created the most glamorous and romantic ambience.

We used Art Deco style props in decadent black and gold to emphasise the luxurious theme and create different styled areas. Emily of Emily Hankins Cakes made a beautifully elegant two tier cake to complement the colour scheme. The overall cake design simple with a Deco feel and hand-painted a stunning floral gold design onto the cake. Emily is an artist and cake maker!’

The dresses used in this shoot are from a designer making her mark with the most beautifully embellished set of 1920’s and 1930’s inspired gowns, Eliza Jane Howell – who we recently introduced to our readers here.

‘To play up the antique styling, the shoot was centred around our new jet and gold Art Deco inspired designs, our smoky crystal adorned ‘pieces’ for aged authenticity and our traditional crystal and pearl accessories. Although we decided against traditional bridal dresses, we still wanted beautifully elegant gowns with the wow factor to appeal to a vintage loving bride but that also had a versatility to take them from the aisle to a glamorous evening occasion. For me, it had to be the divine gowns by Eliza Jane Howell.

It’s no secret that I absolutely adore the style, cut and intricate beading of this designer’s gown which simply are masterpieces. Harriet Wilde’s shoes added the perfect finishing touch with such timeless style.’

‘I felt the flowers would play an important role and needed to be unstructured with accents of deep red blooms. I was delighted to be introduced to Anna of Anna’s Flower Barn who really does work from the cutest little barn in her garden. Anna created a beautiful bouquet and candelabra arrangement dressed with feathers and pearls which I truly felt completed the shoot.’

‘To create a more reportage style of editorial, Emma directed our stunning model, Jenny, by naturally moving the shoot through the house so that we captured a natural story. I think it’s safe to say the whole (amazing) team were delighted with the results we achieved.’

‘It’s an exciting time for Glitzy Secrets as we launch our new website in January after months of hard work. I literally cannot wait to show Love Me Dress readers who have always been a great support which is why I wanted to share this shoot which will be gracing its pages to give you an exclusive little preview and take the chance to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year from us all at Glitzy Secrets.’
