The Lovettes (Caroline) – Taking A Step Back, Deep Breath and Getting A Little Perspective

Today is Friday and we’re back on the ferry to the UK to shoot a wedding super 8mm film style.  We’ve just said a temporary farewell to the wedding diet and inhaled a fish and chips dinner (a possible reaction to the chia seeds and salads!)

This diet is joint venture – Will’s kilt was made for him a few years ago and now is slightly on the snug side, although I think he still looks incredibly dashing in it. Anyway…

Ten weeks to go and everything is done, the checklist is checked and the dress is beautiful! Oh hang on a minute, no, no that’s not quite the reality.

I’m struggling to cram everything in – it’s been mental – work trips abroad, weekly wedding filming, friend’s weddings, etc, etc. My head is still brimming with ideas but I’m finding very little time to complete the fun and creative things.

The foraging continues, and the pile of wedding related stuff, from feather butterflies and aisle carpet to charity shop self-engraved glassware and antique candlesticks has expanded to include another cupboard, a significant proportion of the sitting room floor, a secret bridal accessories drawer, and various garages and lofts from friends and family.

After scrapping the lists mentioned in my last post, in favour of a more organic approach to wedding organizing, I fear the time has now come to start rewriting some of those lists into the remaining two weekends we have free before the wedding – eek!

I’m worried that I won’t have any time left to create lovely camper’s gift bags, sew together kids party bags, make a gold beaded crown and at worst, sew the flower girls tutu’s. I’ve got visions of instead, booking airport taxis, writing table plans and polishing candlesticks on my allocated fun days.

However much I’d love to be the beautiful bendy yoga girl, recently the release of this stress has resulted in (thoroughly sober) dances in car parks, or belting out classic 80’s pop ballads in the car (Will, I love you so much).

The trip to Madrid to find/create/collect my wedding dress has leaked out so at least I won’t be sat on the plane worried that Will doesn’t know where I am in the world. (I travel a lot with work and always give him an itinerary!)

All in all I’m getting a little anxious. The time has come to take a step back, take a deep breath and get a little perspective.

I’m marrying my best friend in the whole world, we have the venue of our dreams, Kevin the paella guy is making awesome food, the band are great and our most favourite people in the world are going to be there. I mustn’t let myself get hung up on small details – it’s going to be an incredible day regardless.

Now I just need 7 pairs of gold wellies, 50 white and gold umbrellas and we’re sorted 😉

Love Caroline x
