Well hello and how was your Bank Holiday weekend? Mine flew by and although I’m currently part way through a half-term family escape, I had to take a little time out to introduce you to Twigs & Honey, a US bridal adornment brand that’s just all kinds of wonderful and the sublime 2016 collection featuring hair adornments, veils, bridal attire, accessories and much more besides…
Twigs & Honey is the fabulous creation of Myra Callan who is one of those fantastic people who followed their creative dream and took the leap into the wedding world. And thank goodness that she did because Twigs & Honey really is rather special and the latest collection is just heaven.
“I found myself in a government research job right after graduating,” says Myra. “It was very unfulfilling but during my time there, I was also planning my wedding and decided to create all the bridal party accessories. I was so much happier when I had a creative outlet!”
“Soon after getting married, I started a small Etsy shop that outpaced my day job in just a couple of months so I made the decision to quit my government position and focus on my business full-time.”
Since that moment, Twigs & Honey has flown. The recently released 2016 collection is full of the most delightful bridal accessories. I really can’t get enough of these dramatic oversized earrings and the dogwood flower double headband is spectacular. I might also have lost my heart to Gardenia, a sheer lace cape that’s just exquisite and this breathtaking golden flower sash.
“I usually find inspiration from everything but weddings!” laughs Myra. “I think it results in more original pieces when I pull inspiration from unexpected places. I like to look toward ready-to-wear fashion runway shows, the natural environment and vintage fabrics in particular.”
Every piece from Twigs & Honey is made with luxurious, high-quality materials and Myra oversees a talented team of local artisans who meticulously create every design by hand, wiring, sewing and hand-setting Swarovski crystals and pearls.
“I also work with an amazing network of talent around the world who help make some of my wildest imaginings come true from embroideries dripping with crystals and beads to custom molds that are made the old fashioned way. All of these elements result in truly special and unique pieces that are lovely to wear and then cherish for years.”
In addition to the spectacular botanical headpieces that range in size from the attention-grabbing to the subtle, you’ll also find charming bridal must-haves in the new collection – can you imagine wearing this ethereal silk gown on the morning or your wedding or taking this lace mini dress on honeymoon? What a treat!
“Our style incorporates earthy, organic shapes and textures with an over-arching romantic and feminine aesthetic,” explains Myra.
“Delicately hand pressed petals of silk and lace, softly manipulated feathers and hand stitched tulle veils round out my designs to give a completely fresh and modern interpretation of bridal accessories.”
