Jesus Peiro: Modern, Elegant, Feminine – The 2019 Heritage Collection

Jesus Peiro Barcelona Catwalk 2018

There are a small number of wedding dress designers that I am 100% behind as a digital influencer and content creator – and Jesus Peiro is one of them. Founded in 1988, this year sees Jesus Peiro celebrate 30 years of business that has taken them from a tiny studio in the heart of Barcelona to a brand who is stocked in over 300 boutiques internationally.

It can be super confusing for brides entering the world of weddings for the first time in the hunt for their dress – you only need open any wedding magazine to feel instantly bombarded with page upon page of adverts for different designers, and that’s before you even get to any meaningful content. I’d like to give you a helping hand in finding a place to start, by recommending Jesus Peiro. There are many reasons why, but think on this; there are lots of bridal fashion brands out there who are all about the low-cost/quick sale and turnover. They care much less about you and your experience as a bride to be than other designers will. Jesus Peiro is one of those businesses who really do care. The happiness of their brides is their absolute priority.

This is a team who values the client experience over profit and Instagram fame, every single time. This is a team whose commitment to the highest levels of craftsmanship, arguably match those of an established couture house, yet is surprisingly affordable, with all it’s detailed handmade finishes and tireless commitment to creating the perfect fit.

I am so keen to tell you more about this wonderful brand and business and share with you their latest collection of bridal gowns that I was lucky enough to be invited to witness on the catwalk in Barcelona last month.

Jesus Peiro Heritage

Jesus Peiro was established by one Jesus Diez, who stands proudly at the helm of the business to this day. The Creative Designer and woman behind the design of the dresses themselves is Merche Segarra. Merche is an immensely talented designer whose signature style is clean and streamlined. Her creations are modern, elegant and feminine, they are light, playful and highly wearable. This is a woman who knows how to design for women. She is very capably assisted by her protégés and assistants Jairo and Alberto, both talented designers in their own right.

The images in this feature are from the catwalk show hosted during Barcelona Bridal Fashion Week last month. We were, as we have been for the past 3 years, thrilled to have received an invitation to this event. Seeing the new collections grace the runway in a classy and elegant show hosted by one of our favourite designers is truly one of our annual highlights, but this year, it was extra special.

The show opened up with a very touching film that talked through the heritage of the brand – and introduced some of the beautiful brides who it has dressed over the years. One bride and her mother had both worn Jesus Peiro for their weddings some 25 years apart from one another. It was such a lovely and meaningful way to highlight how far this wonderful family-run business has come, with a focus on it’s achievements being the happiness of it’s clients rather than impressive figures and stats.

As I was reading through the programme for the show before it commenced, the following words really struck me…

‘Our 2019 collection tells the story that we have invested time and effort in order to do a better job every day. It tells that we are on a constant path, striving for excellence and that we are proud to show the beauty of our craftsmanship. The collection tells that a Jesus Peiro wedding dress embraces the bride while she moves gracefully, that it follows her shape. That the bride is beautiful and happy and that she feels special. That she becomes unforgettable. We notice each of her gestures, we ask her how she is feeling, we analyse her shape, we take care of her wishes. When love at first sight happens between the bride and her dress and we bear witness to that excitement, we become overwhelmed by emotion. A happy bride – this is our heritage.’

Turning the page of the programme revealed a double page spread full of the most delicately sketched images of thimbles – some 215 of them, each named – the images were accompanied by the following words; ‘The hands of many people have contributed throughout our 30 years to turning us into what we have become today. May these thimbles carrying their names serve as a token of our affectionate homage and heartfelt appreciation. Thank you. Thank you so very much.’

The progamme and film were each a wonderfully touching way to open a show that was so significant to this wonderful brand. The gowns that followed out on the catwalk took my breath away.

Jesus Peiro is a brand highly regarded within the wedding industry here in UK. It is no surprise to me that many members of Luxe Bride, with whom we announced our exclusive partnership last week, are stockists of Jesus Peiro within their luxury bridal boutiques. These women understand a beautiful and well constructed garment when they see one. They understand high quality and exceptional levels of craftsmanship – they know, because they tell me, that Jesus Peiro is a cut above in these terms.

One word on ‘luxury’ too – if haven’t read this feature yet, please find a few moments for it. It touches on an incredibly important point about how luxury is not to be defined as something only affordable to those who have an endless supply of money (or a footballer husband for that matter); ‘Luxury is not about money, it’s about the experience. Luxury does not mean owning a Bentley or having a footballer husband; it’s less budget and more beauty. Luxury is about treating yourself to time, expertise, choice, service and having an experience at a shop that makes you feel beautiful and valued. Luxury is about everyone knowing your name and sharing joyously in your wedding story. Luxury is not a ‘click and collect’ experience in any way, but the provision of a meaningful, honest, intimate and authentic experience.’ (Emma Marshall, Managing Director of Miss Bush Bridal and stockist of Jesus Peiro).

Jesus Peiro are the epitome of our definition of luxury in every single way.

The images at the end of this feature are all part of the 2019 ‘Heritage’ collection, showcased in Barcelona last month. Here is a video to accompany the images. It provides a great insight into how the dresses move when being worn – well worth a watch.

We have also featured a number of beautiful real brides wearing Jesus Peiro and we have more to share with you in the coming weeks and months.
