I love stories. I love reading them, hearing them and telling them because every tale is unique and it deserves to be told.
Today, I’m thrilled to welcome Kate from The Story of Us to Love My Dress because I know she feels the same way as I do. The Story of Us offer stationery and videography and they’re all about romance and authenticity coupled with incredible style. What could possibly be better?
The Story of Us is actually husband and wife team, Australian Kate and Scotsman Grae (pictured below) and, after several super successful years in Australia, they’re now here in the UK, telling stories and making memories with their fantastic stationery and memory films.

“We are a husband and wife team who met on a blind date! We were set up and engaged six months later so it’s safe to say we’re romantics and dreamers. We founded The Story of Us when we wanted our own wedding film in 2012 and couldn’t find a company who would work with us without rigging lights, wiring us up with microphones and swarming all over the wedding with multiple shooters. We thought we could do better! Once we shared our film, friends started asking if we would capture their weddings and the rest, as they say, is history!”
Kate admits that she thought they’d never leave Australia but, after a family trip to Edinburgh last year, they changed their minds.
“There’s something about the moody majesty of the UK that’s inspiring us and reinvigorating our creativity. We’ve been at this seven years now so call is a seven year itch! The light here in the UK, the people and the landscapes are really exciting us to tell more stories.”

“Now, it feels like the first day of school again as we’re new in town. Everyone in the industry here has been very welcoming and we love collaborating with local vendors and creatives in Scotland. The couples here are funny, romantic and don’t take themselves too seriously but still have a beautiful sense of family and friendship. It’s a special place.”
When it comes to wedding stationery, Kate says that personality always makes for great design.

“An awesome invitation suite will have your guests pumped up to pick an outfit, RSVP and turn up on time in a festive mood! We love including little design details that are unique and special to the couple. We’ve illustrated many a fur baby, created fun monograms and even hand painted the view from the venue to make sure pieces are special and memorable for everyone who’s part of the day.”
When it comes to wedding films, The Story of Us do two things – they document what happens through classic, chronological film but they also capture the intimate moments, the finer details and reactions from your loved ones on the day.

They don’t spend ages planning shots and instead, they are responsive and fully ‘present’ on the day, making sure that they capture all the unexpected and beautiful moments as they unfold.
“Being part of a couple’s wedding day never gets old, it’s such an honour. The moment when the groom sees the bride arrive gets my every time and that moment always makes it into every Story of Us film.”
So, how do you make sure that your story is told in a way that you’ll always love? Kate offers this advice if you’re looking for the perfect videographer:
“Watch a lot of their work. Are you moved? Do you get tingles? Does their work make you excited for your day? If you answer yes, then you’ve probably got a great creative synergy that will make a great match!”
