Good Morning 🙂
I hope this finds you well 🙂 I thought I'd open up this week with a delightful Brighton wedding, that was photographed by the Award Winning Brighton and Sussex Wedding Photographer, Lisa Devlin. Actually, the Bride here is one of Lisa's closest friends.
Alistair and Katrina tied the knot on 20 November 2010, at the Pub de Vin in Brighton.
Katrina's totally gorgeous 1950's style wedding dress was designed by Joanne Fleming…
"I had a really disappointing outing to London where I tried on full length off the peg dresses – I just didn’t find anything I remotely liked the look of. On the train home i realised that I didn’t want a conventional wedding dress and loved the idea of having a shorter dress with a vintage feel.
Going to see Joanne was an amazing experience; from our first meeting and sketch to the final product, Joanne always knew the dress I was hoping to achieve. I loved my dress and it was exactly what I had pictured on my train journey home!"

I love these getting ready shots…
Yes, I can relate to this….I was pretty much glued to my wedding planning spreadsheet for 15 whole entire months! 😉
…..and I was also obsessed with Table Plans (by the way, check out Top Table Planner – it's brilliant!)…
Katrina's beautiful striking red shoes were by Irregular Choice…
Katrina wore a headband from Rock and Rose…
Mrs Moles flower Emporium provided the flowers on the day…
"Alistair walks past Mrs Moles every day to work and after receiving some flowers from there, I knew that they would understand my vintage inspired theme. She matched the dusky pink roses to the colour theme exactly.
We had a 'vintage feel' throughout our wedding, which was inspired by my dress; the invites and flowers fit in with this theme…"
A beautiful wrist corsage…
Katrina's Bridesmaids dresses were from Debut at Debenhams, and their shoes were from Peacocks…
Katrina's Bridesmaid secures her necklace…
"My necklace was 'Tie the Knot by Silverado' – Alistair left this as a gift at our house on the morning of the wedding…"
Alistair wore a Hugo Morris suit…

Time to go…..
Katrina walked down the aisle to 'At Last' by Etta James….
"I love the song and it felt right as we have been together a long time! I was so nervous on the morning if the wedding but I needed not to have been! I was walking myself down the aisle, my father is deceased and at 38 and having 2 children with Alistair, I felt I didn’t need a man to give me away! As the countdown began I started to feel panicked about my decision, but it was fine…"
The couple's chosen venue for their reception was the Pub de Vin in Brighton…
"As soon as we saw the Dome room we loved it, we needed a venue that we could have the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception so it ticked all the boxes…"
Good old Marks and Spencer provided the couple's 4-tier chocolate cake…
"I really don’t like fruit cake or marzipan and we decided that you run the risk of the wedding cake being left in the corner, so early on we decided on a chocolate cake that we would serve as our 3rd course…"
You Got the Love…
"Alistair and I first met around 1990 and would have been listening to 'You've got the Love' by the Source / Candi Staton, so we decided to have a mix of this version and Florence and the machine version which was expertly mixed by Alistair's brother Howard for our first dance…"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"The day after my engagement, I bought four big glossy wedding magazines and as I looked through them, I got blinded by all the extra's you can have. We both wanted the day to be about our wedding ceremony, family and friends so I started looking at blogs instead and picked up better hints and tips for DIY. I also realised that we could have the wedding we wanted without all the frill!
The day goes so quickly so enjoy every second! Aa colleague gave me some advice that each hour you try and spend 5 mins alone together, which we did, and I am really pleased we did as you do a lot of smiling and talking so its nice to take 5 mins off!
Also do consider having your dress made, its such am amazing journey, you do have to visualise and to trust your designer but at the end you have a unique dress that fits you perfectly…"
Awww, what a lovely way to open up the week 🙂
Thanks so much Katrina for sharing your wedding experience with us – and huge thanks as always to the wonderful Brighton and Sussex Wedding Photographer, Lisa Devlin.
More wedding goodness coming up later 🙂
Much love,
Annabel xXx
