They say the wedding is all about the dress – and indeed on most occasions that is true – but sometimes, it's just all about the veil ~ and there is most certainly something about THIS wedding veil!
I was absolutely adamant I wasn't a 'veil' kind of Bride, and yet, I ended up wearing a cathedral length beauty on my wedding day. There is just something about the traditional, long, wedding veil that can make the heart of any Bride-to-be go swoon.
This fabulous wedding was shot by the lovely Lisa Devlin (who has swiftly become one of my favourite UK based wedding Photographers – check out Lisa's 'Vintage Wedding' Photography Service) and captures Bride Rachel and her Groom James on their wedding day in September 2009 at the Royal Pavilion in Brighton.
Rachel wore a Pronovias wedding dress and veil…
"My veil matched my dress and I couldn't resist it (even though I swore I wasn't a veil kinda bride). It had tiny white polka dots and was trimmed in lace so it had a chic vintage look but was very long. I had no idea what our Photographer was thinking when she posed me by the windows in the Pavilion but now I see that as I had no real aisle to walk down, this silhouette shot really did it justice."
You'll have to read on to get a look at that silhouette shot! 🙂

Rachel's shoes were LK Bennett and all her accessories were by Yarwood White…
Green Goddess…
Rachel's Bridesmaids looked beautiful in their Sage Green dresses…
"James picked green and I had to work with it, as we are both chocolate fans, that kind of went too. So it evolved into mint chocolate meets the seaside as our reception venue was right on the beach."
The Bridesmaids picked their own shoes and their dresses were by Dessy.
Chocolate Flowers…
"Our flowers were provided by the lovely Donal at Pollen, who came up with a great idea of chocolate cosmos (little brown simple flowers that actually smell of chocolate) supergreen roses and flowering mint (they smelt good enough to eat!)"
Silhoutte Veil…
How beautiful and ethereal is the shot below left? Make sure you get your Photographer to try to capture a similar image if you are going for a long style wedding veil.
Polka Dot Perfect…
I LOVE this veil – who wouldn't?
Brighton Beach Bride!
"One of the best bits of the day was posing in the deck chairs on the beach as we got to enjoy a glass of bubbly while watching our wedding from a little bit of distance. It can be such a busy day it is hard to take it all in. Also we felt that it was important to invest in great photography to really capture the spirit of it all. What we saved on things like the cake meant that we could splurge on a gorgeous album."
Absolutely lovely 🙂 Congratulations Rachel and James – and thank you once again to Wedding Photographer Lisa Devlin for sharing her fabulousness on Love My Dress 🙂
I'm now looking forward to the warmer weather so that I can go frolic on the beach! (minus my veil, but perhaps with a very stylish seaside combo none-the-less!) 😉
