A Traditional Scottish Wedding ~ With a Little Vintage Style…

I do love it when a Bride uses her creativity towards helping her big day look so special, and it’s always lovely to hear that these Brides have gone on to create successful businesses using their skills, like Bride Lisa Long here.

Regular readers may recall me featuring ‘More Than Words’ last month – a company that specialise in bespoke and limited edition typographic art.  Lisa is owner and Creative Director of More
Than Words
, which she was inspired to set up after planning her wedding.  So naturally, it didn’t take long for me to come round to asking Lisa about her actual wedding!  And today, I’m delighted to be able to share details with you all today 🙂

Lisa and Husband Neil’s September 2006 wedding took place at Dundas Castle, Edinburgh – a venue chosen because Lisa herself is Scottish.  Lisa’s lovely lace dress was a Maggie Sottero….

“I love romantic vintage ‘things’ and wanted a traditional Scottish
wedding so married the two together and it worked wonderfully.  My dress had vintage
feel and beautifully romantic lace detail. I fell in love with it the
moment I saw it.  It was the first one I tried on!  My gorgeous full length ivory veil with delicate crystals dotted
throughout, glistened in the candle lit ‘Auld Keep’ of the castle,
where the ceremony was help…”

I adore the photograph below and the movement it captures in Lisa’s beautiful wedding veil…

Words of Wisdom?

“I think the planning of the wedding was just as amazing as the
wedding
itself.  I spent a year looking through every magazine and website I
could find for inspiration.  I think personal touches, like making your
own invitations and table settings, make the day even more special.
Enjoy
every moment and take time out with your new husband once an hour to
reflect on what’s just happened as you want to cherish each special
moment.I also kept everything to do with my wedding and enjoyed putting
it all together in a wedding scrap album afterwards.  It was a great way
to re-live the day, and still is, and will be lovely for my children to
look through one day.”
