The creation of the very lovely Natalie Leon – Passionate About Vintage specialise in the creation of beautiful one-off and limited edition bridal jewellery pieces, crafted from Natalie’s very extensive personal collection of Vintage beads and components sourced from around the world, many pieces of which are over 50 years old.  Natalie also sources the most exquistie original vintage handbags from 1920-1950.

“I am passionate about vintage, it’s as simple as that really, any and all vintage I don’t discriminate. Anything from Victoriana to the 1950’s makes my heart race. I wander around car boot fairs looking for cut glass, vintage teacups; old leather bound books and rhinestone jewellery.

I started collecting vintage beads, buttons and sequins at a young age, I have been visiting antique fairs with my parents for as long as I can remember and probably before I could walk. They have always encouraged my creativity and shared my passion for all things period…”

“As I got older my focus turned to jewellery. It was then that my mother showed me a book on the work of Miriam Haskell. I was hooked! The layered construction and stunning colours of Haskell’s pieces all made in glass beads was the most fantastic jewellery I had ever seen. I immediately became an avid collector and admirer of her work, I have never looked back…”

“…In my final year of university, Haskell’s work provided the impetus for my research into the history of costume jewellery, my great passion. This research formed the basis of my dissertation, which gave an overview of the developments in costume jewellery and compared the careers of two of its foremost exponents, Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli.”

“Like many creative people I am driven by the need to create. I have amassed a collection of countless different types of vintage beads from all over the world, Japan, Italy, Czechoslovakia, Western Germany etc. But I am always striving to discover rarer older pieces to add to my collection. I love interacting with my customers, talking to them about the history of the pieces and creating something new and totally unique to them…”

I met Natalie at the Designer Wedding Show back in February this year; her exhibition stand was so beautifully presented – I recall seeing the original vintage clutch bags (ALWAYS wanted wan) out on display, and Natalie approaching my colleague and I with a look of genuine enthusiasm. And I recall telling her about my blog and her expressing much interest. I felt I’d made an instant connection…
