A Bridesmaids Dress for a Brighton Bride…

Hi Everyone 🙂 Well it sure as heck is a grotty day indeed where I am today; cold, windy, rainy and dark. I guess there's nothing for it but to make you feel all warm INSIDE with a lovely Brighton wedding feature.  And this one sure touched my heart a little 🙂 I love how the Bride talks about her family and I think she looks absolutely fantastic in her lovely pale grey feathered cape – such a beautiful accessory for any vintage Bride!

John and Rebecca tied the knot on 23 October 2010 with a ceremony at Brighton Town Hall, followed by an informal reception at The Green Room, upstairs at the Cricketers Pub; "We were really keen to have the ceremony and a reception within walking distance of each other, and our ideal scenario was being able to walk everyone down to the beach after the ceremony….a promenade to the Promenade!"

Rebecca's lovely wedding gown was from Supernova Bridal in Datchet, Berkshire…"We have been together for 12 years and have two children so I didn’t want a full-on ivory or white dress, but I did want a well fitted, structured dress, so I actally chose a bridesmaid design that I could have in the soft grey colour that I had set my heart on. I loved the flattering ruching across the tummy, and the weight and feel of the satin…"

Huge thanks to Brighton Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer Helen Lovell for submitting this beautiful wedding to Love My Dress…

Feather Fancy…

To accessorise her look, Brighton Bride Rebecca wore some very small diamante pins and a lovely feather cape from Monsoon

"It really made the dress feel a little more vintage and unique…and kept me warm for an October wedding!  It was in exactly the right shade of grey to match the dress too…"

Cala Lillie Love…

"I had not originally intended to carry flowers, but when I was getting ready I had a beautiful brides bouquet delivered that John had arranged and ordered to be sent to me. I retrospect it was the perfect idea as they gave me something to do with my hands, and really set the dress off and made the whole thing a  little more 'Wedding-y'!"

Rebecca walked down the aisle to Kiri Te Kanawa "O mio babbino caro"…

"…a song that we both find uplifting as well as quite emotional and is all about a daughter begging her father to let her marry someone!"

Best 'Little Boy'…

"We had our 4 year old son as Best Man – a role he took very seriously!  He had the rings in his pocket, and was the best Best Man we could have hoped for.

The registrar made him feel very special and really included him in the ceremony…and it meant that John's friends could relax and enjoy the day without dreading the speech!"

Love love LOVE the shot below – as this Best little Boy reaches for the rings in his pocket! 🙂

Wedding Day Nerves…

"One thing that stands out for me is that I was so nervous all the morning of the wedding, but as soon as I got to the Town Hall all my nerves went and it just felt like the most natural thing in the world, I just remember feeling quite euphorically happy…the weather was imcredible in that the day before had been horrendous, but the morning of the wedding had started with clear blue skies, with clouds approaching as we got closer to the ceremony time, but rain held off, we went into the town hall, and half an hour later emerged to more wonderful clear blue skies, but a LOT of puddles…there had been a torrential downpour for the precise time we were inside, but it had magically cleared and left a beautiful day for the start of our married life!

We have been together for a long time and have two wonderful children and the whole day was to cement our little family together, and I hope that this is what people enjoyed being a part of."

The Groom wore a  tailored three piece dark brown pinstripe from A Suit That Fits

"It cost twice as much as my dress but he looked wonderful and we figured he would wear his suit again one day, whereas my dress…..!"

"I didn't have any Bridesmaids – just my little girl, 18 months old, in a beautiful pale purple and deep pink Monsoon Broderie Anglaise dress…"

Choccywoccydoodah!

"Our cake was one of the reason we were swayed towards Brighton as a venue!! Choccywoccydoodah, based in Brighton, don’t deliver, so we set out to find somewhere local to them to have our reception! we had wonderful service from them, a taster plate of all their flavours, in their cafe.  We were expecting little bite sized pieces, and they served up HUGE pieces of cake with ice cream and a raspberry coulis!

We then couldn’t decide on flavours so ended up with three separate cakes, all covered in solid white chocolate and white chocolate roses, in lemon, ginger and chocolate flavours. Wonderful wonderful, and served up by the reception venue as our dessert with ice cream and raspberry sauce as they tasted so wonderful like that!

Words of Wedded Wisdom?

"Enjoy the lead up, the planning and, of course, the day! I think if things get too stressful you just want it over and done with but if you can enjoy the prepartions then that prolongs the enjoyment overall. We planned and achieved an informal wedding where we could enjoy each part of it, and we had a lot of lovely visits to brighton to sort out the fine details!"

How delightful! :)  Thanks so much Rebecca for sharing your details and helping to inspire our readers – big love and congratulations to you and John for FINALLY tieing the knot! 😉

Huge thanks too to Brighton Wedding and Lifestyle Photographer, Helen Lovell, as Rebecca told me, "The most wondeful, amazing and brilliant Helen Lovell, http://helenlovellphotography.blogspot.com/, who managed my mild camera-phobia and the resulting photos were genuinely beyond my dreams and expectations. Informal, catch-the-moment photos, but capturing a light and atmosphere that only adds to our own memories of the day, and for all the guests summed up the ambiance of the day."

Much love,
