Lemon Yellow, Butterflies and a Short and Sweet Veil…

Good afternoon all 🙂 Have you seen the beautiful Sassi Holford 'Indulgence' collection that I featured on the blog this morning?  Time for another real wedding, and this lunch time, I've a pretty lemon-yellow affair to share with you that celebrates the love between Melissa and Jonathan, who tied the knot on 5 June this year at Birtsmorton Court in Worcestershire.

Melissa says that the colour lemon yellow and her 'butterfly dress' started the butterfly theme for the rest of the day.  Her elegant strapless dress was a bespoke design by Chanticleer in Cheltenham.  Her dressmaker was Tracey Salt and the gown itself was an adaption of the design 'Rosita', from the Gala collection…

"I had found two other dresses, both relatively different in style and couldn't decide between them. Rosita was somewhat of a cross between the two and the beauty of having your dress made by Chanticleer is that it is totally bespoke – you can add a different type of skirt to a bodice or vice versa. Tracey was also great at talking through all the different options for embellishment and when flicking through her book of samples she in passing mentioned 'butterflies' I instantly had a vision of the 'butterfly dress' I wanted!"

Huge thanks to the brilliant Birmingham and West Midlands Wedding Photographer that is Steve Gerrard for sharing these photographs today…

Now I don't see all too many short wedding veils these days – everyone seems to love the cathedral length style, but I love how Melissa opted for a short and sweet design, from Bridal Gowns at Jodi, in Cantebury

"I left getting my veil till very late (only 3 weeks before the wedding) and knew I wanted a short one. They didn't seem to exist until I found the sample in Jodi's. Amazingly they had one made for me within a week and it was extremely reasonable in price!"

Melissa hired Heidi Herkes, a freelance Makeup Artist, and Dream Hair & Beauty of Rowley Regis to style her pretty locks on the day…

She wore a tiara and veil comb both from the Truly range at Julieann Beads and a necklace that was handmade by my her Mum, with clear Swarovski crystals and delicate lemon butterfly crystals interspersed throughout.Melissa's bracelet was also a handmade gift from her Mother, and her plain crystal studs were from Fenwicks…

The couple's chosen wedding venue was Birtsmorton Court in Worcestershire…

"This was a country venue, medieval moated house with semi-erect marquee for the wedding breakfast.
We didn't really know what we were looking for in a venue but Birtsmorton Court was the first one we looked around and we both just absolutely fell in love with it. The fact it had a beautiful little church on-site also made a church wedding a must…."

Jonathan hired a suit from Cameron Ross via Well Suited in Broadstairs. He and his Groomsmen had cravats made in lemon to match bridesmaid dresses…

"I went for the traditional 'here comes the bride' played on the organ, ‘Bridal Chorus’ from Lohengrin by Wagner.  We had  ‘I want you so much closer’, by Death Cab for Cutie playing (from CD) during the signing of the register and walked out together to ‘Love Changes Everything’, from Aspects of Love by Andrew Lloyd Webber played on the organ."

Melissa's Bridesmaids wore Style #11584 of the 2009-2010 Kelsey Rose Collection.  Their shoes were 'Cosmopolitan' by Else (Rainbow Club), that were dyed by 'The Colour Studio' to match lemon yellow of the bridemaid dresses.  Both the Bridesmaids dresses and shoes were purchased from The Crystal Fairy Company in Birchington.

Passion Flowers of Worcester provided the delightful yellow and purple florals…

"The florist was recommended by the venue. I have always loved blue/deep purple flowers and felt that all lemon and white may look a little 'wishy washy' so opted for a combination of lemon gladiolli and irises for the table centres – the hint of blue/purple really lifted the seating area. We also chose tall decorations for a bit of drama."

The couple hired wedding cakemakers Special Ice of Ledbury to produce their cake…

"I saw a picture of my cake in a magazine and instantly knew that was the design I wanted! It was so simple yet striking – and looked modern rather than too traditional. We went for a 3 tier fruitcake which was iced in plain white icing. For the decoration lemon yellow polka dots were added -  lemon satin ribbon was tied around the bottom of each layer."

Melissa's engagement ring was a brilliant cut diamond solitaire set in platinum from Tiffany's, in the classic Tiffany 6-prong setting.  Her wedding ring was a 2.5mm plain platinum band from 'Swag' at Bluewater.  Jonathan's ring was a 6mm brushed and polished platinum band, also from Swag.

"Both wedding bands are engraved inside with the words 'someone like you' to match our first dance track and remind us of how special we are to each other…"

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Enjoy every minute of the planning and don't listen to people who keep asking 'are you not stressed!!  I just wish I could do it all again! I wouldn't change a thing about the day but would love to be able to do it all in slow-motion…."
