A Seaside Funfair Engagement Shoot…

Hi All 🙂 Yesterday I had the lovely {and surprise} pleasure of spending time with my Wedding Photographer, Karen McGowran.  Which is a little bit of co-incidence that, because I've had this little feature, photographed by Karen, scheduled for a few days now.

I love this pretty, fun, colourful and quirky engagement shoot of Bride Natalie and her Husband Graeme; what a wonderful celebration of British Seaside culture – and the love between this couple simply oozes from these photographs.  Natalie's pretty vintage style attire also really appealed to me, those oversized pearls, the pretty bow-front dress and red knit – she is perfectly styled for a little romantic fun and frolics by the seaside 🙂

Natalie told me more…

"Our engagement shoot holds a very dear spot in my happy memories pot. We had an absolute blast, and what could be more romantic than a day with your beloved at the funfair, complete with balloons, rides and lolly pops right?"

"I will be completely upfront and say my Husband did not exactly know what he was letting himself in for! I may have told him Karen was going to play around with the camera and take some informal shots, to make sure we were entirely used to her and become comfortable with the camera, which was in fact the original concept behind the shoot. I may have missed the funfair and beach part out but he did not regret it for a single moment, in fact he happily volunteers the beloved guest book our funfair outing became to visitors to our home…"

"When I emailed Karen and told her about my idea she immediately got to work on it and came up with some great ideas of her own. We had balloons, brightly coloured lolly pops, hook a duck you name it! We were so grateful to the folk of the fun fair who really embraced our idea and allowed us to use their merchandise and rides.

It was our day to be silly, have fun and create beautiful memories and we managed all three!"

I thought it would be nice to also see North East UK Wedding Photographer Karen McGowran's own thoughts on this shoot…

"As a wedding photographer I am really conscious that newlyweds need to be relaxed in front of the camera as this creates images that are extra special. A pre wedding shoot is a fantastic way for both the Bride and Groom and the photographer to get to know each other and build up that trust and rapport that will be critical on the wedding day. When you book a good wedding photographer, you will soon be made to feel at ease and hopefully you will actually look forward to being photographed on your wedding day…"

"When Natalie shared her ideas with me about her pre wedding shoot and I was really excited! She wanted funfairs, beach, balloons and colours….and why not? Somethings aren't possible on your wedding day but you can let your imagination run free on your pre wedding shoot and choose a wacky location or bring some interesting props.

Natalie and Graeme were great to work with as they gave me so many ideas but also allowed me freedom to shoot and I think we made a great team! I made a guestbook from the images and got some great feedback from the guests at their wedding…quite a talking point!"

Before you move on, take a moment to be inspired by these other Engagement shoots.

And on that note, I shall be off to dream about the weather getting a bit warmer so that I can spend some time on the beach!! 🙂

Much love everyone,
