Ballerina Bride ~ Inspiration Shoot…

I have a little girl, she's 5 years old and takes ballet classes every Saturday morning.  And she dreams of being a ballet dancer when she grows up.  I love how my world is surrounded by symbols of ballet and dance and all things pretty right now – it's certainly one of the benefits of having two little girls.

I love the notion of the Ballerina Bride too – and how ballet and all it's beauty could inspire a Bride planning her wedding.

I love the movement in this set of inspiration photographs, that were shared with me by Manchester Wedding Photographer, Katy Lunsford

"The aim was to showcase to Brides, wedding looks that they can incorporate into their wedding styling.

We focused on two main looks – a strong contrast monochrome 'black swan' look, and a softer, more feminine and pretty 'white swan' look. Our beautiful models -Jess, Megan and Karen – are all trained ballerinas;

We wanted genuine ballet poses and dancing sequences to achieve something a little different to the usual bridal stances…"

"Our venue was The Monastery in Manchester, which is one of the most incredible wedding venues I have ever seen. It is an amazing example of gothic architecture and retains many original features, which are enhanced by clever lighting. When the main space is set up for a wedding or event it looks absolutely breathtaking…"

"Megan {above and below} is wearing 'Dita' by Naomi Neoh, a fab London bridal designer I have recently discovered and absolutely LOVE. This is probably my favourite dress of the shoot; I adore the blush pink rose corsage and french lace bodice, so delicately pretty.
Just before we had to move out of the main space to make way for a Monastery tour, the sun came through the windows at the back. Any regular readers will know that I get reeeeally excited by beautiful light and there was no way I could let this opportunity pass by. We had to work super-quick to get this next sequence of shots – but it was so worth it, the effect is just beautiful…"

"Model Karen, below, wears a pretty little 50s number – Como by Baciocchi – perfect for a ballet-themed wedding, or an evening wedding reception dress to dance the night away in. I love the light and shadows in these next images. And what an amazing dancer!"

"It was a truly fabulous day and I feel so grateful and privileged to have worked with such talented and creative people. The team were amazing, sourcing and creating pieces especially for the shoot, and exceeding my expectations at every turn (and they were pretty high!)."
