Morning folks! ;) I do love it when I Bride and her Groom get their creative on and work together on the styling of their wedding day, just like Jason and Jennifer. Jennifer, who is a regular visitor to Love My Dress did. Jason and Jennifer tied the knot on 17th September 2011 at Craigmore Methodist Church, followed by a reception at Gilberts Mill in Riverdale…
Jennifer wore a flattering gown that she teamed beautifully with those heavenly blue hydrangea – some of my favourite flowers ever. And all that detail at the reception? I just love…
"When it came to decor, where do I begin? …from borrowing tea-sets from my Granny, using potato boxes from the farms, people donating us hydrangea and hundreds of tea lights and a variation of candle holders to Jason sanding down palettes of wood to be used as coffee tables and old milk churns to be used for decorations…"

"The Bridesmaids dresses were navy symphony dresses from Coast. Again, I had seen these before I was engaged. I have never been a big fan of typical bridesmaid dresses and I wanted something that they would actually wear again rather than just hanging in their wardrobe gathering dust!"
"The cake was supplied by a family friend. A 3 tier cake (Chocolate/sponge/orange Madeira flavours). I chose the stand because it fitted in well with our venue and we had a small flower decoration on top rather than the typical bride+groom model…"
"With planning the wedding in under five months, it did mean I was limited to what dresses would be available in such short notice. I chose a dress with 2 straps as I felt that everybody was having strapless dresses, I just wanted mine to be remembered – we just wanted a beautiful relaxed day in fact that everyone would remember…"
"Jason’s ring was from Joseph Rea – he wanted something as plain as possible and we found him a comfortable one here. With mine, I had already purchased another ring, but while looking for Jason’s I found another one. So a frantic search for the receipt of the original began! I bought one from Ernest Jones in the end as the diamonds on it were perfectly in line with those on my engagement ring…"
"My only hair accessory was a small piece from Jon Richard, it was detailed with flowers. I have quite fine hair so I had to pick something smaller…."
"My Makeup Artist was Stacy Kilpatrick – possibly the loveliest person around…"
"The bouquets were by Susan’s Flowers and the church decoration was by a family friend. My mum and I along with a team of helpers decorated the venue with hydrangea given to us by friends and family.
We used hydrangea because they were so big and came in a range of colour. We also had a few alistromia to break it up a little bit.
The Bridesmaids necklaces and earrings were both from Pilgrim. These were also their thank you presents. I had looked at these items before actually getting engaged and had loved them…"
"We got the Groom's suit from a hire shop on the Lisburn Road, Belfast. Their ties were bought separately and the boys had storm trooper cufflinks and Jason had Darth Vader ones. (Whatever keeps them happy)!"
"My Dad gave me away, and I walked up the aisle to the Beach Boys –'Wouldn’t it be nice'…"
"My uncle drove my dad and I to the church in his beautiful vintage riley. The bridesmaids came in another uncles range rover. (Complete with ribbon and personalised number plates!!)"
"We chose this as it was owned by some relatives of mine, so it meant a little more to us than just a standard hotel…"
"Jason and I both get called Jay, so that became quite confusing with the photos, when they said “jay, look here, and Jay look away!”, but we are used to it!!"
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
"Book your hair and makeup sooner than I did, I left to 1 week before, I was pretty lucky to get such great people though.
Get the mother of the bride’s outfit sorted first; once they are sorted the whole process is much easier.
You don’t have to have a 18month engagement – we did it in 5 and I’m really glad we did – why wait?
I visited a few blogs, obviously Love My Dress! But the best advice I can give is to avoid wedding magazines. They are filled with models not real women! Blogs are realistic and honest, magazines can be deceiving…"
What a gorgeous day! Huge thanks to Blackbox Photography for sharing these lovely photographs, I'm just super in love with those blue hydrangea!
"Blackbox Photography were fabulous and really made the day even better. A real delight to have with us while we were getting ready. They captured the small moments that are normally forgotten, along with the big moments…"
Who else is incoporating blue, or hydrangea into their wedding day?
