….I know, it doesn't quite roll off the tongue, but you might want to familiarise yourself with 'Katya Katya Shehurina' anyway, because I'm telling you now, they're going to be flying up the bridal wear popularity charts in no time at all.
Katya Katya Shehurina is a European brand of high fashion and bridal wear, established by designer Katya Shehurina in 2007. The brand, who have had a boutique on Carnaby Street in London since March last year, first came to my attention with their beautiful lace creations that hit all my design style buttons just a few weeks ago. I have since had the pleasure of meeting Katya at The White Gallery last weekend {watch out for images from the show on Love My Dress soon} and can tell you, these dresses are just adorable up close. Ask Franky, she was with me. I swooned lots…
"Originally from Latvia, I graduated in fashion design in France. During my studies, I gained a wealth of experience through my work for Nicolas Faffiotte and David Purves, an established and popular French bridal wear designers, and so in 2007, I decided to create my own brand…"

There are so many things I love about the Katya Katya Shehurina collection; beautiful lace, long sleeves, adjustable lengths, feminine, chic, elegant. During my visit to The White Gallery, designer Katya talked me through how her dresses can be adjusted in length and colour – mixing white dresses with coloured slips underneath to add texture, and how her vintage line featured original vintage slips and lingerie. It was all so damn pretty…
"We describe ourselves as being unequally stylish and exclusively feminine; our collections are focused on wedding wear, but also include a selection of evening wear and special occasion wear.
Most of our dresses are hand made and are uniquely designed garments. We see our client an active woman of today that appreciates her time, comfort and opportunity to look feminine and charming. The dresses by Katya Katya Shehurina could be changed and transformed with a simple tweak by using various accessories, such as a belt with silk flowers, handmade brooches embroidered with crystals or lace boleros…"
"I consider myself as a designer who wants to make women not only feminine and elegant, but also make sure they feel comfortable and relaxed in their dress during one of the most important days of their lives and I believe this is well appreciated by our customers.
Despite being a new name in the UK market, we have already featured in Brides Magazine, You and Your Wedding, Vogue, On-line Vogue, Grazia, S Magazine, Sunday Times, Telegraph, In Style, Sunday Express, The Observer on numerous occasions (see our press section for details)…"
"Prior to opening our first boutique in the heart of London (Carnaby Street) in March of 2011, Katya Katya Shehurina collections were already selling in the Middle East, Russia and Latvia. Since opening, the London store brought us the UK clientele, as well as expanded our presence in Continental Europe, Asia and the US.
The launch of our first Katya Katya Shehurina boutique in London helped us to better understand the needs of today’s woman. We have completely revamped our style towards garments for special occasions and life’s happiest moments. We offer bridal, evening and cocktail wear and in other words, as per our almost new credo and moto – 'We Sell Happiness!'."
"My passion for fashion started right from when I was a little girl. I always dreamed I'd be in fashion and design and always wanted to create clothes that would make women feel and look more feminine and elegant…"
"I love the fact that I can replicate my dream wardrobe in my creations and then see how these are admired by people all around the world. I also love the fact that the modern fashion industry is growing and developing so rapidly – I love that challenge – the need to constantly adapt to my client's needs and progress with the times.
I have always been interested in the period of 1880-1940s, they represent times of uncontrollable rapid industrial growth, changes to the previous views of the world and transition to a new reality that is very close to the one we know today…"
"All these factors had a great impact on the new era of the fashion industry, which is why I find that time extremely attractive. In my view, the main features were simplicity of forms and complexity of decorations, transition to notions of 'comfort and a more active way of life. Women become more independent, while remaining immensely feminine, mysterious and charming…"
"When it comes to design inspriation, I hugely admire the work of numerous other designers, however my favourites are Vivienne Westwood for her courage, Alexander McQueen for the ability he had to combine the past with the future, creating something completely new and unseen, and Karl Lagerfeld for creating contemporary collections each season, while maintaining the 'DNA' of the brand created by Gabrielle Chanel more than a century ago.
Exclusive high-end garments with handmade elements at a reasonable price is something that has always immensely interested me, something that previously seemed too complicated and out of reach financially. I want to change that perception through my collections…"
"Our demi-couture bridal wear is priced between £1000 to £2000. We also offer a bespoke option which starts from £2000. We also offer bridesmaids dresses which start just from £250 and evening gowns in the range up to £900.
We believe that our price ranges, coupled with the elegant touches of a hand made finishing make us a highly valuable option for the modern-day bride who favours vintage inspired style, and a cut and fit that flatters her body shape…."
"As well as offering our seasonal collections, we also offer a tailor made to wear service, specifically designed for our client to compliment their own design wishes and body features.
We have also established the Katya Katya Shehurina vintage line, which consists of one of a kind dresses made on the basis of vintage lingerie. This line is a striking example of how something old and forgotten might take on a new life in something brand new. We believe that it is quite important that in an era of rampant consumerism, people can learn to convert and recycle things that have already been produced within the boundaries of fashion…"
