Some of the first 'new content' that we'll be featuring soon, might well dip into the beauty department, with a focus on makeup.  Makeup and beauty is something I've long been keen to explore more about through Love My Dress, so watch this space lipstick lovers.  For today however, I'm absolutely delighted to introduce you to the Lipstick and Curls team, because frankly, I think you need to know about them – espesh if like me, you're a girl who would kill to get that perfect pin-curl or mighty marcel wave.

Lipstick and Curls is a company specialising in vintage beauty and hair styling. It includes a large team of professionals with a vast amount of experience in hair and make up styling, but with a passion for beauty from a bygone era. The company was established in January 2009 and now in it’s forth year continues to offer premier Vintage Styling to a wide audience…

"Specializing in hair and make-up from the 1920’s – 1980’s we can transform you into a jazz era flapper girl, a starlet from Hollywood's golden age, a rock n roll pin-up or a 60’s sex kitten! With the busy lives we lead, pampering time isn’t what it used to be, but Lipstick and Curls, with their skills, historical knowledge and love of the eras are determined to bring good old fashioned glamour back to the fore.

Whether you are looking for a glamorous Betty Grable up do, a subtle Veronica Lake wave, an attention seeking beehive or just a vintage makeover to compliment your current style the Lipstick and Curls girls are there to help!"

Lipstick and Curls was established by Amanda Moorhouse 2009. Amanda studied hair & make-up at the London College of fashion and then worked for 10 years in fashion and media. It was her love of all things Vintage and a desire to make the world more glamorous that she decided to set up Lipstick & Curls.

The company has now grown to include a team of 15 fully trained hair & make-up artists. All experts in Vintage styling, able to create any look from a bygone period…

"I was very interested in film and often researched back though the archives to find inspiration for my work. With a love of all things vintage I enjoyed the London Vintage scene and became more aware of the need for vintage glamor in our modern day lives, the company just grew organically.

I now specialize in Vintage Styling and continue to work in fashion and media. It is great to have a focus and research back through the decades.

I unearth something new every day!!!"

Lipstick and Curls is a London based company and until recently, only operated within the London area.  However, the team have so many fans across the UK, they have now taken their services outside of London and have further plans to expand into other major towns and cities up and down the country.

"Most of our brides come from outside of London anyway so we often work further a field…"

A full list of services offered, including this fab bridal package and their prices can be found here.  However, if you fancy a retro-makeover with Lipstick and Curls, full vintage Hair will cost you just £40 and you can add full make up to this for an extra £10. The vintage make over at £50 is one of our most popular services.  I think it's pretty darn ace value for money too.

Group party bookings are a huge hit for a hen party. For £30 per head (minimum group of 10) two Lipstick and Curl ladies will come to your party and give all the guests a vintage make over….

For £75, you can bag yourself a Lipstick and Curls vintage masterclass; this is a small intensive afternoon workshop where you can learn to do key vintage styles on your own hair. The team will make this a fun informal session and provide tea and cakes throughout the afternoon – perfect for a hen celebration don't you think?

Finally, if you fancy dressing up a little, the Pin up studio service will cost you £250.  This is such a treat for anyone who just fancies the experience to someone requiring professional images. The fee includes a vintage hair and make over session plus styling and vintage props from the Lipstick and Curls team.  A photo-shoot with one of the leading photographers ‘Rocco Rolls’ features in Vogue, Harpers and many more. You can then choose and receive four prints from the experience.

I think this all sounds totally fabulous, especially those great prices! And I'm such a sucker for a pin-curl.

Much love,
