A David Fielden Gown For A Rob Ryan, Midsummer Nights Dream Inspired Wedding…

Given that it's good Friday today, we're treating today as a semi-holiday over her at Love My Dress H.Q. (desperate to get to the bakers before they run out of freshly baked hot cross buns!), so today, there will be just one post, but let me tell you it is completely worth it.

Andy and Jemma's wedding took place on 27 July last year at The Milton of Crathes, Aberdeenshire and these pretty photographs were taken by our brilliant sponsors, Mirrorbox Photography.

I love this wedding for the way Jemma so passionately shares the memories of the day, and for the lovely photographs which capture some really lovely, special moments...

"To begin with I found it quite tricky to get started
with all the planning as I didn’t have a clear idea in my head.
  I had
always imagined getting married with an Arabian nights sort of theme but
as things got going this quickly evolved into a whimsical, woodland
feel for the day. I like to think of it as our
Midsummer Nights Dream
wedding.

We were so
lucky with the weather – especially considering that two days beforehand
Andy, his best man and I had been standing in jackets and wellies
watching the marquee start to go up in driving rain!  On the day, it was
sunny, dry and even warm, and this meant that people were mingling outside
until 1am under the twinkling stars; this definitely helped with the Midsummer Nights Dream atmosphere."

"I think I was initially under the impression
that I had to choose a colour scheme that would feature in almost every
aspect but nothing stood out for me and we ended up going with a wide
range of colours which fitted into an outdoorsy, relaxed, summery theme.

I ordered beautiful Rob Ryan greetings cards which my sister in law
turned into invitations – the image on the website was moss green on the
outside with a duck-egg blue interior, however when they arrived the
inside was bright pink! This was a bit shocking at first and I planned
to send them back but after a few days I had grown to love them so green
and pink became feature colours.

Our venue also really lent itself to a natural theme so we used lots of wood, petals, leaves etc for lots of elements of the day."

Jemma wore a David Fielden gown, which she purchased from the David Fielden flagship store in Fulham…

"I can’t describe
how great a feeling it is putting your dress on on the day of the
wedding and knowing that you’re finally allowed to wear it. The design
and fabrics of mine were so luxurious and I felt like a flower fairy all
day in my marshmallowy tulle!

I
really, really loved the dress search. I wanted to enjoy it as much as
possible so went to as many shops as I could and constantly browsed
magazines and websites. I was pretty disillusioned by the thought of
finding ‘the one’, not believing there would be that epiphany moment
when putting on a dress… luckily I was wrong."

"We used Val Morrison for our flowers (Val doesn’t have a
website). She is absolutely wonderful and managed to create exactly what
I was imagining plus more! We had tall vases of green and pink
hydrangeas on the tables.  Hydrangeas in pale and darker pink were used
for the bridesmaid’s bouquets too. I carried pink peony roses tied with
raffia and ivory ribbon.

I love the delicate look of these flowers and
have since instragram-ed one of Sam and Sequoia’s photos of my bouquet
and had it made into a phone cover so I can look at them every day.

"Cymbelline was a brand that I loved as soon as I discovered
them… the styles were very me, so I went down to London to try a few
on. I found a definite maybe and over the next few months didn’t see
anything better than it so booked another trip to London to try it
again. Just before I went I spotted
 David Fielden in
a wedding magazine and after a quick scan of his website booked an
appointment for while I was in London. I liked the Cymbelline dress even
more the second time I tried it on and booked to go back to order it
then next day, after my appointment at David Fielden – just in case!

 Of
course, as soon as I stepped into the magical, fluffy, lighter than air
David Fielden creation I ordered it there and then, even keeping it on
while I signed all the paperwork! I was shaking when I left the shop as
it was such a quick decision, but definitely the right one."

"The staff at  David Fielden
are so friendly and made the process of organising
fittings/appointments between Aberdeen and London as easy as possible.
It was probably the most precious cargo I had every carried when I
eventually picked it up and my friend and I had to get it from London to
Aberdeen on the overnight train!
I still don’t think my Mum
has got over the shock that I was on my own when I chose my dress.

For
every other appointment, I had had my Mum, sister and/or bridesmaids with
me but the way things had worked out on this occasion, I had just
nipped across London on my own – not thinking the appointment would
amount to anything. As much as I loved the appointments with people
there, it was also really nice to be on my own for this one.  All that
mattered was that I knew it was my perfect dress and I didn’t have to
think about any other opinions!

"My wonderful husband treated me to my sparkly gold Miu Miu shoes
which I absolutely adore. A few hours in I changed into shoes number
2… a lower heeled pair from Topshop, which
also had glittery gold heels (seeing a theme here?)…"

"Our invitations were Rob Ryan cards and everything else was
designed by my sister in law who is a graphic design genius! She made
tiny save the date booklets (which were stitched together by my
mother-in-law), invitation inserts and RSVP postcards, signs for the
day and all sorts of other things. We were so lucky to have her doing
this as it made everything so personal and even more special for us.
"

"As there wasn’t much colour in my other accessories, I opted for a
flash of bright pink on my nails which looks great in the photos.
Under my dress, I had splashed out on a simple cream Florrie Mitton garter.   I had no idea that finding the perfect garter would be so hard!"

"My Dad has a vintage Mercedes which he drove me in. After
piling my dress into the small car and convincing my Dad to keep the
roof on to avoid any veil mishaps we had a really lovely drive out the
country roads to the venue together. It’s only a two-seater so it was a
really nice chance to have some father/daughter time before he walked me
down the aisle to my husband.

One of my Dad’s friends drove the bridesmaids in his lovely vintage
Rolls Royce. The duck egg blue of his car looked lovely beside my Dad’s
metallic blue silver car – they were both decorated in ivory ribbon."

"My bridesmaids dresses were from Ted Baker.
They were such a pretty stlye and I thought the pink colour would fit
in well, but when we went to try them on each of my bridesmaids seemed
to love a different colour so we just went with all three. I wanted them
to be happy in what they were wearing and hopefully be able to wear it
again in the future.

They all looked absolutely gorgeous and the colours
were so sugary and went together well."

"Andy and I met through friends when we were 15.
There was a glimmer of teenage romance to begin with but then we just
became good friends for the next few years. Even once I moved to London
we would still hang out in the same group of friends whenever I was
home. It wasn’t until I was back in Aberdeen over Christmas in 2005 that
we realised there was definitely something more to us than ‘just
friends’.

Within a couple of weeks Andy had spontaneously come down to
visit me in London and that was how the story started… 7 years later
Andy is my best friend as well as my gorgeous husband and we make a
pretty good team – he does almost all the house work and I bake him lots
of cakes to say thank you!
"

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"It didn’t take long
for things to get more serious; Andy came with me to my sister’s wedding
in Cyprus in May 2006 and the next month I moved home to Aberdeen (the
long distance thing really isn’t for me, neither are 12 hour megabus
journeys)! 3 years later we bought our flat together and brought a
little cat home to live with us…
Vince!

It was probably about this
time that my proposal hints became more frequent but Andy doesn’t like
to be rushed so he took his own sweet time about things!! As a Christmas
present in 2010 Andy booked a surprise trip away for the beginning of
January. I tried so hard not to get too excited but couldn’t help
thinking that this might be it… On the 3rd January when we were all
ready to go with our coats and shoes on Andy got down on one knee and
asked me to marry him. I fully admit that I’m a bit of a control freak
and by proposing before we left on our trip Andy achieved the very hard
task of taking me completely by surprise!"

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"Andy proposed with my stunning Gebruder and Schaffrath SPINNING diamond ring from Rock Candy Gallery.
We had walked past their window and spotted the style of ring when we
were in Edinburgh the year before… the special setting allows the ring
to move so that it catches the most amount of light. It’s so unusual
and I couldn’t believe he had chosen the perfect one. Once we were
engaged I found out that Andy had dropped me at work one day, driven to
Edinburgh to collect the ring, and driven back in time to pick me up
from work without me knowing a thing about it!

We
started planning the wedding almost straight away and we both just kind
of knew that we’d want a summer wedding (if you can call it summer in
Scotland?!), so the date was set for July 21st 2012. The next 18 months
seemed like they would never pass but waking up on the wedding morning,
it felt like yesterday that I had agreed to be Mrs Mathieson.
"

"We had a bit of a cake issue – it was delivered in the
morning of the wedding when Andy was checking everything at the venue.
He could see instantly that it wasn’t what I was expecting and was even
asked by one of the other suppliers if it had been dropped?! He was so
worried that I would be upset and so Val stepped in and saved the day by
draping it in flowers and Ivy; unfortunately that didn’t do anything to
help the taste and we didn’t even feel we could serve it to our guests!

It was really disappointing as I thought I had chosen a fantastic cake
maker and the samples had been delicious. However, it didn’t dampen the
day in the slightest and we just laughed about it and had a faux-cutting
photo!"

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"Luckily, this didn’t mean that the
wedding was cake free.  I love to bake and my usual treats are tiny
cupcakes adorned in yummy cream cheese frosting. I was adamant that I
would make these so set to it the day before the wedding when obviously
there are a million and one other things to do. Almost straight away I
was distracted with stamping names, tieing ribbons etc. So my awesome
friend (and bridesmaid) Mel stepped in and whipped up over 100 cakes
that were served as part of the dessert buffet.

The cupcakes were topped
with super cute customised toppers by Nash at Happi Yumi. Once I sent a few photos to Nash and told her a
bit about us, she used her incredible creative flare to come up with
several ideas for me to choose from… she makes so many other
customised products too. We had so many comments about the funny toppers
and it was so weird to walk past tables and see our faces sticking out
of their cakes."

"One of Andy’s friends climbed a tree and cut down a big branch the day
before the wedding for me to hang the table plan on! I had mounted
photos of us holding the table numbers on our engagement shoot (also
with Sam and Sequoia), stamped names on the back and hung these on the
branch.
.."

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"Sourcing/making decor was one of my favourite bits of the planning!  I got our cardboard table numbers from Hobbycraft.
I didn’t decorate these as I liked the rustic look. Instead, I found
tiny bottles of ‘Unicorn Magic’ (all the way from Australia) to put on
top of each number and sprinkled some around the table too. We put
wooden candles holders with tea-lights around the tables…"

"We also used quirky little props for styling, like the little faux moss rabbits for the top tabl and giant flowers which I made from a tutorial I found online via the Green Wedding Shoes blog.

I bought boxes of Hotel Chocolat caramel
hearts (these are so yummy) and had tiny kraft paper bags printed by a
supplier on Etsy to say ‘Be Still my Caramel Heart’, we then put two
hearts in each."

"My Mum’s friend Sandra is fantastic with flowers and she made the
floral arch for us.  It was a lot of fun going to the flower wholesalers
to choose flowers and lovely Sandra also clambered through gardens and
woods during the week of the wedding (when there was torrential rain) to
collect enough ivy! So many people mention how beautiful the arch is
when they look at the photos and we are so grateful to Sandra for the
amount of work she put into it.
"

"I
genuinely can’t recommend Sam and Sequoia from
Mirrorbox Photography enough! They
are both so friendly and professional and were great fun to have around
on the day. They blended into the background in order to get some
amazing shots and when Andy and I were having our photos taken after the
ceremony they made us feel totally relaxed – which is particularly good
if your husband doesn’t like having his photo taken.

Because
there are two photographers, they were able to shoot both Andy and I in
the morning and it’s really fun to be able to see what he was up to
before the wedding… they even got our lovely little cat, Vince in the
photos! In the evening they set-up a photo-booth which our family and
friends loved and they put the photos of this up on their website for
everyone to see only a day or two after the wedding."

"About six weeks before the wedding we found out that the Circus
was coming to town,  to the field right beside the wedding. I panicked,
imagining enthusiastic circus-goes accidentally traipsing through the
ceremony, or my walk down the aisle being accompanied by the circus
tune. Fortunately this wasn’t the case at all and it actually turned out
to be a blessing in disguise when Sam and Sequoia saw it as a photo
opportunity and we wondered over for a few striped-background photos in
the evening.

Sam and Sequoia very quickly picked up on
what was important to us and have managed to capture the whole
atmosphere of the day perfectly in their photos. I love to sit and look
through the pictures and still get butterflies when I do!"

"We ummed and ahhed over just about every location option – Caesar’s Palace in Vegas, a barefoot beach affair in Greece, a
whimsical spectacular at The Folly in London; however Scotland remained
the obvious choice so that we had as much chance as possible of our
family and friends being able to be with us. My brother and sister both
got married abroad – their weddings were absolutely gorgeous but I think
my Mum and Dad were pleased to be able to ‘host’ a wedding nearer to
home.

Despite being in Scotland though I had a strict no tartan rule for
the decor – I meant to keep this to myself but somehow the word spread
and I had a few calls from guests asking permission to wear kilts!"

"The Milton of Crathes, Aberdeenshire
originally passed by our radar as we knew they had just moved their
permanent marquee to another hotel and we thought that it would be a lot
of extra work to hire our own. So, we sort of rushed into another venue
when really all the signs were there to tell us not to. As the months
passed the venue and it’s service lost our trust to the point that we
could see that the wedding and the lead up to it would be filled with
nothing but worry.

So, eight months before we said ‘I do’ we cancelled our
venue and started from scratch again. At the time it felt quite
terrifying but I like to think everything happens for a reason and once
we stumbled back upon the Milton of Crathes I knew that this was true.
The setting is absolutely stunning but even more importantly, the
manager Jay was friendly, helpful and very accommodating to our ideas.
Without the marquee, the venue was less about weddings than it used to
be so they made us feel like our day was totally bespoke and worked with
us so create a day that was perfect for us and that they could
orchestrate beautifully!"

"I don’t usually wear much jewellery so instead of buying
anything new I decided to pick some piece that would be sentimental to
me.

On the morning of the wedding my sister delivered a gorgeous
feather detail bracelet from Andy and one of my bridesmaids gave me a
necklace to match, so those both went on too!

I should also mention that I bought a really pretty paper flower hair accessory from Morgann Hill on Etsy but forgot to put it in on the day – oops!"

"My something old was a dainty pair of pearl drop earrings that my Mum had worn when she was my age and gave me as a gift.
I also wore one of my Mum’s gold bangles as my something borrowed (she
wears several of these on a daily basis and when I think of her these
are always in the picture so it was a really precious thing to borrow).
I pinned a gold-leaf shaped brooch onto my dress. It used to
be my grandmother’s and so has a lot of sentimental value and felt
really special to wear it on my wedding day.

My Mum sewed a tiny blue bow into my dress as my something blue."

"Two hairdressers from Hatstand Nelly in Aberdeen
came to my Mum and Dad’s the morning of the weddng to do everyone’s
hair. I wanted the bridesmaids to have their hair however they chose but
asked them to each have a braid somewhere in their style – it was a
really cute look and it tied all their looks together.

Make-up was by Lyndsay Alexis Makeup
who was lovely and we were all really pleased with the end results. She
had trialled my make-up before the wedding and created a lovely natural
look that didn’t seem to budge on the day!

"As the bride, I chose so many of the details about the day so I decided to hand the decision of what song should be played as I walked down 'the aisle' to Andy. He chose ‘Rise’ by Eddie Vedder
which is in the movie ‘Into the Wild’ which we both really like.

It’s
such an uplifting song and whenever I hear it now it makes me so happy.
We are so, so lucky that our wonderful friends Patty and Corse, who also
happen to be wonderful musicians were lovely enough to play/sing for
the guests before I arrived and then to sing me down the aisle – a
pretty daunting task I think! It was such an amazing and surreal walk – I
was aware of everyone around me but was just so excited to reach Andy!"

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"Andy and his best man wore matching suits by Tiger of Sweden from Pure Man in Aberdeen.
Andy’s tie was from Reiss, it had tiny blue and white petals on it which
matched my dress – it took quite a lot of will-power not to tell him
this so that I didn’t ruin the surprise! As a wedding gift, I gave him
silver cufflinks by Hannah Lamb; one was an Oak Tree, the other an Oak
Leaf. These not only fitted into with our wedding ‘theme, but it seemed
very appropriate to me that the Oak Tree is known to symbolise
Strength.

Andy had a white rose as his buttonholed and my Dad, the best men and ushers all had pale pink roses."

"My lovely Dad gave me away. We waited behind a bush to keep
hidden while the bridesmaid, my sister and the tinies walked down the
aisle first. My Dad kept asking if I was ok but I genuinely felt no
nerves by that point, just excitement! I was probably one of few
brides who was actually early for the wedding!"

"We wrote our own vows. We each wrote them
individually but decided to read them to each other 2 days before the
wedding so that we could see if we were both sort of on the same tracks.
I’m so glad we did this because I cried my eyes out when I first heard
Andy’s vows. He had made them funny but so loving and everyone commented
about how moved by them they were on the day. He even made reference to
the fact that I’m a bit of a control freak and would have probably
laminated his cue cards if I had had the chance!

 We
found that writing our vows ourselves really worked for us as it let us
focus on all the things that we find important and share the reasons
why we love and want to marry each other.
"

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

We worked with the registrar to really tailor her part of the
ceremony. She was great and added of few quotes and poems that we really
liked e.g;

 'A marriage makes of two
fractional lives a whole; It gives two purposeless lives a work, And
doubles the strength of each to perform it. It gives to two questioning
natures a reason for living And something to live for. It will give new
gladness to the sunshine. A new fragrance to the flowers, a new beauty
to the earth And a new mystery to life.

Also, my friend Hannah has a beautiful voice and sang a lovely,
peaceful song with no musical accompaniment during the ceremony. It was a
such calm moment in the ceremony for everyone just to listen to her,
and Andy and I could soak in everything that was going on.
  At
the end of the service my sister-in-law and one of my bridesmaids read
‘The Places You’ll Go’ by Doctor Seuss which lightened the atmosphere
and was in-keeping with the fun feel of the day."

David Fielden wedding dress Rob Ryan inspired wedding

"We
found it pretty tricky to write the statement you say when you give
each other the rings but we eventually came up with this, which we both
said.

'This ring is to be a constant
reminder that I have loved you, do love you and will love you. The
circle has no end, and my love for you won’t either.
'

"My sister read ‘A Vow’ by Wendy Cope which was quite a tear-jerker. The words are so romantic

'I cannot promise never to be angry;
I cannot promise always to be kind.
You know what you are taking on, my darling –
It's only at the start that love is blind.
And yet I'm still the one you want to be with
And you're the one for me – of that I'm sure.
You are my closest friend, my favourite person,
The lover and the home I've waited for.
I cannot promise that I will deserve you
From this day on. I hope to pass that test.
I love you and I want to make you happy.
I promise I will do my very best.'"

"Andy’s ring was ordered from Jamieson and Carry Jewellers in Aberdeen who were really helpful and managed the find exactly what he wanted.I feel really lucky that my Dad kept his grandmother’s wedding
ring which he offered for Andy and I to use as my wedding ring if we
wanted to. I love how meaningful it is and by sheer chance it fitted me
perfectly and sat really well with my engagement ring. Before taking
Andy’s surname my initials were J.H.A and these were also my
great-grandmothers and so are engraved in the ring… it seemed meant to
be! Jamieson and Carry were amazing when it came to engraving it for
us, they managed to keep the original text saying 1906 while adding our
initials and date in a more modern font."

"We hired a gorgeous ice cream vintage tricycle that served
cones between the ceremony and reception by, it was a hit with the adults and kids
and gave everyone something to do while Andy and I were having our
photos taken.   We also had a big basket
of frisbees and balls lying out on the grass, these were initially
planned for the kids but I think the adults had just as much fun – with
a couple of frisbees pretty quickly landing in the river!"

"We hired a marquee from Gordon at North East Promotions
who my Dad had known from other events. He was fantastic at directing
us towards the kind of tent we needed and all the equipment to go along
with it. He and I joked along the way as there was a bit of a difference
in opinions… I was sure that I wanted the marquee lined in white so
that it was a fresh look with colours added in from the flowers and
decorations.

However, Gordon tried to convince me that this would look
awful. At the same time, I really didn’t warm to the idea of his much
loved coloured lights above the dance floor, thinking that white lights
would look much prettier! In the end of the day we both won our battles –
the white lining was stunning and the coloured lights looked amazing –
they created such a cool atmosphere and were captured perfectly in Sam
and Sequoia’s photos. Gordon showed up on the evening to make sure
everything was going to plan and he and I congratulated each other on
our great taste and had a good laugh about it!

"For some reason Andy had joked about having a canoe full of beer
for people to help themselves to. I wasn’t brave enough to try and
transport a canoe so instead I managed to get hold of an old tin bath
which sat on the bar and was full of drinks.
My friend Steph
helped me with so much of the wedding crafting and we had so much fun
with it all."

"As the kind of girl who looks at the dessert menu first in
restaurants I had big plans for pudding. We had a dessert buffet after
our main course. My Dad’s side of the family is originally Middle
Eastern and my Auntie and Uncle carried delicious baklava and pistachio
chocolates all the way over with them. We piled Waitrose macaroons into
glass jars and displayed other treats on pretty platters.  It definitely
helps to have a brother in law who is a chef as he made the best
chocolate mousse ever and decanted it into every one of the 140 tiny
mixed glasses that Andy and I had spent a day picking from a junk yard
earlier in the year. The Milton topped things off with huge bowls of
fresh strawberries and raspberries.

The Milton Brasserie
are known for their delicious food so they were able to do the catering
on site. We opted for a buffet style meal to keep everything quite
chilled out. They created an amazing spread of roast beef, poached
salmon, vegetarian strudel and lovely salads. Before we were even
engaged, Andy regularly told me that he would want to have a hog roast
at our wedding so this was the piece de la resistance provided by
Sheridan the butcher in Deeside (http://www.hmsheridan.co.uk). The
Milton also made burgers at about 10pm for mid-dancing sustenance! I
don’t think I portrayed the dainty bride but just couldn’t resist all
the amazing food that was around all day… I did manage to keep my
dress clean though!

"After the meal and speeches – which were entertainment in themselves
– the Photobooth was available for everyone to glam themselves up and
have some funny photos taken. My brother in law with his tea-cup is a
particular favourite of ours with the moustaches and flags being the
preferred props!"

"One of our biggest challenges was making the two piñatas
that the marquee guys then very obligingly rigged onto a pulley system
so that they could hang from the roof.

We started the piñatas months
before the wedding and spent several sunny days paper mache-ing in the
garden. We hand-made over 300 tissue paper roses for one (I roped my mum
in to help with this bit too) and cut out tiny squares of gold foil for
the other one. It was such a funny part of the festivities when these
were let down at the end of the night – months of hard work smashed to
pieces in minutes – AAGGHH!

I had filled them with little cellophane
bags of sweeties, each one tied with a tiny luggage tag showing a famous
love quote – all handwritten in teeny tiny writing by my wonderful
brother the day before."

"As the daylight started the fade, the
music and dancing kick off! As soon as I found the ‘Love Pirates’ I knew
we had to have them as our band… not only because of the name
(although that a definitely factor in swaying it for me) but for their
awesome, totally non-cheesy set-list. They were so down to earth and let
us make playlists to go between their sets. Mert, the front man helped
us tailor the set to suit our tastes and they were so relaxed and
friendly that it felt like having old friends around on the night.

During one of the band’s breaks, I threw the bouquet which landed
straight into the arms of my lovely bridesmaid Amy… this prompted an
amusing, unfortunately fake, proposal from her boyfriend."

"During the evening, I opped on my customised ‘Jem’ plimsoles which were a gift from my
lovely friend Steph and allowed me to dance all night long.

I think 3
pairs of shoes was probably a bit excessive but I’m not very good at
tricky decisions so I decided just to go with them all.  Whenever I wear
my sparkly shoes now they bring back such happy memories.

"There are so many songs that we love and that have featured at
different stages of our relationship so we found it really hard to
choose. By the wedding day we had two choices still in mind and until
about five minutes before we went onto the dance floor we were going to
dance to ‘Earth Angel’ but were suddenly not so sure.

After some
excellent advice from Sam and Sequoia we went for our other plan – ‘Baby
I Love You’ by the Ramones. It was much more us and everyone else could
join us on the dance floor half way through.

Words of Wedded Wisdom…

"Source suppliers carefully. It really helps to ‘try before you buy’ whenever possible and to see reviews and recommendations.
Dont panic if you can’t think of a ‘theme’… I found that once you put a
few things in place such as date and venue things start to fall into
place much more easily!

If things go wrong, just breathe….
remember that you’re marrying the person you love and that’s what
counts. It’s so easy to get swept up in trying to make everything
perfect but by the time the day arrives the atmosphere and adrenaline
mean you’re concentrating on your husband and barely notice the little details – it definitely helps to have a preparation cut-off!
Once I left the marquee the day before the wedding I just told myself
that the planning was done and accepted that things were now out of my
control. This really helped me relax and enjoy the whole day of the
wedding.

The whole atmosphere of the day and being surrounded by our
family and friends is all we could ask for! I got to marry the man I
love and every time we think back to the day we’re still amazed at how
perfectly it all went!"

"Other than that, and although it
sounds a bit silly, one of my favourite moments aside from the obvious
ones was watching Andy practice his speech. It was just before the meal
and a few of us were milling outside the marquee. We glanced over and
saw Andy beside the river on his own, one hand in his pocket, jacket off
and pacing slowly backwards and forwards with his speech in his other
hand reading it to himself. In that moment, watching my lovely husband,
all I could think about was how lucky I was to now be his wife! Someone
even managed to get a photo of him which is one of my favourites!

For at least six months before the wedding a week day didn’t go without me checking in on Love My Dress
which made it even more exciting to be filling out the form for this feature. I took
inspiration from so many of the real life wedding stories and must have
printed out dozens of pictures from the blog to put in my scrapbook. I
love how Annabel and Franky find such lovely, unusual suppliers and led me to so
many great websites that I probably wouldn’t have found otherwise!

Thank you so much for many hours spent immersed in your website and the
amazing privilege of featuring our wedding, which took more inspiration
than you can imagine from
Love My Dress."
