Jacqui McSweeney has been shooting weddings for almost 15 years. We're thrilled to have such an established, talented photographer onboard as a sponsor at Love My Dress and it gives us great pleasure to share a little of her story with you today.
'I started out as a photographic printer, specialising in high end hand printing for professional photographers. This was a great entry into the photography world and I fell in love with how the tiny details in an image affect the overall feeling of a photograph. I worked as an assistant for a little while before going freelance. It was while working for another the photographer that I discovered the joy of creative wedding photography. That is why I love it; I get the opportunity to be more creative than I would in other photography field.'
'When I first started out I remember thinking that if I could just take one single photo that touched someone I would be happy. With wedding photography I get to do that every week!'
'I'm inspired by documentary and fine art photographers as well movies. I think all of us photographers see the world as a series of photographs, so something as simple as how a shadow falls on a wall or the light reflecting on someone's face will fill me with inspiration.'
'I'm always eager to learn and I think you have to constantly look at what is going on outside of your own world in order to keep moving forward in your work.'
'I think my style is fun and stylish. I like humour and love nothing more than bringing out the personalities of the people I am shooting. For this reason, every single wedding I shoot will be different to the last. I like clean images with lots of lightness and colour or if it's black & white simple images with depth.'
'I love my couples and I've been so happy to have been able to experience over 300 hundred weddings in my career so far and I'm excited for every single wedding to come.'
Based in Brighton, Jacqui mainly works there and in London, but regularly travels all over the UK and abroad for weddings. Full day packages start from £1400 and include a pre-wedding shoot. Jacqui is kindly offering £100 off weddings booked before 30th November 2013. To qualify, simply 'like' Jacqui's facebook page before contacting her using Love My Dress as a reference.
