Afternoon lovely ones! Well what a very exciting couple of days I’ve had in London – I’ve been catching up with my colleague Naomi Kenton to work on some exciting new blog content for you all, attending the You & Your Wedding Magazine Bridal Retail Awards Ceremony and hanging out with the amazing Kate Halfpenny this morning – watch out for some beeeeauutiful images coming your way soon.
Hopefully by now, you’ll have already seen this morning’s discussion post and DIY tutorial (with glitter!). Time now then for a real wedding feature to see you through to the weekend. Sarah and James tied the knot on Saturday 5th October last year on the Amalfi Coast in Italy and I love the fun and upbeat style of their wedding. Sarah took her styling inspiration from the vintage pin-up scene and screen idols like Sophia Loren. The couple also added a kitsch vintage flavour to their day by working with the fabulous Dottie creations, who not only made all their kitsch and retro style stationery and paper products and decor, but took these photographs too.

“On a night out in Windsor, I happened to spot James the bar and made a ‘B Line’ for him. We were instantly attracted but he never asked for my number (he was too shy!). A few weeks later, I went into a different bar in Windsor and there he was! Our faces lit up and he finally asked for my number. James made contact two weeks later and we spoke for ages – I felt that that I knew it was meant to be.
We were together just over three years when he proposed and we got married having been together for four years. We had 10 months in all to plan the wedding.”
“My dress was by the brand Perfection Allure and I purchased it from Morgan Davies Bridal. It really complimented my shape beautifully.”
“My bridesmaids wore pistachio green dresses from Satin Bow in St. Albans, and the boys wore mid night blue suits from Gieves & Hawkes.”
“On the day when my flowers arrived they were so so so beautiful better then anything I could have imagined in fact – all soft greens, soft pinks and soft lilacs. They really were everything i wanted and more, and the town hall was completely covered in flowers. They were from Flora Garden.”
“We had a simple, three-tier ivory cake, supplied by the restaurant with silver glittery love hearts as decor. I found the “Mr & Mrs Brown’ cake toppe on notonthehighstreet.com.”
It might have rained on their wedding day, but the whole team clearly had a lot of fun!
“We had the BEST photographer. I couldn’t recommend Mandy enough of Dottie Photography enough! She was fantastic. I found her online and as soon as i saw her website i thought YES this is defiantly for me. Me and my Partner met up with her to discuss if she would be able to come out to Italy for the wedding.
Instantly we knew she is what we were looking for so we flew her team out to Italy.”
‘We had the most outstanding Italian band who were spectacular! everyone was up dancing in-between courses! i did arrange for an ipod with everyones song choices but because the band were so good we didn’t even use the ipod! Italians song were played and one special song that my father and i danced too!”
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
“To enjoy every minuet of planning. don’t get too bogged down with it all. Enjoy your day even if everything doesn’t go to plan. Most of all enjoy and be happy!
We had the most amazing day, with all those people we love in the same place. There was so much emotion present on the day itself, and not a dry eye in the house dring our ceremony. The reception however was full of laughter.”
A totally fun and fabulous wedding for a Friday afternoon! A big thank you to the ladies over at Dottie Photography and Dottie creations for sharing these photographs.
Anyone else planning a destination wedding or looking to have lots of fun like Sarah and James on their wedding day?
