Good morning beautiful, and how are you today? I'm excited about this week, for absolutely no other reason at all than it's a new week with so many new opportunities up for the taking. I'm feeling optimistic and in rude health. I probably ought to get as much work one today as possible before I wake up in a bio-rhythm dip tomorrow feeling not quite so brilliant *note to self* but let us not worry about that and get to the point. We are here for the business of weddings and I have a gorgeous, modern, city-chic style London wedding to share with you.
Sarah, a Probation Officer married Gav, a Graphic Designer, on the 1st September last year at The Soho Hotel – described by Tatler magazine as one fo the most glamorous hotels in the world. It certainly played the perfect backdrop for this wedding full of modern day elegance.
"There wasn’t really a theme to the day. We didn’t want to pick anything that we would cringe at in years to come so tried to keep it timeless and classic. Plus we just love the vibe of Soho and the individuality of the Soho Hotel. The hotel didn't need any additional styling for our wedding day – it is amazingly cool as it is and the decor is one of the main reasons we chose it to be our wedding venue."

"Gav and I met in our previous jobs. We got engaged in New York on 5th Avenue an were engaged for almost two years before our wedding day. We wanted a wedding that was different to other weddings that we had been to before and as neither of us are religious we decided to find a venue that was not a ‘typical’ wedding venue but just somewhere that we loved. We wanted somewhere that was cool, stylish and modern and we found all of these things at the The Soho Hotel."

Just look at that dress – it's perfection with that glorious bouffant. So Audrey!
"My dress was by designer Lyn Ashworth and was purchased from the Ava Rose Hamilton bridal boutique in Silsden, West Yorkshire.
I really wanted a classical look (that hopefully wont age too much with time). I absolutely loved the bow on the back of my dress and the lace overlay."
Sarah's Father walked her down the aisle to the sound of Moon River (same as me Sarah!). She and Gav tailored their vows by taking different parts they liked from the standard vows offered by Westminster Register Office. Two of their friends provided readings during the ceremony, which included 'Love' by Roy Croft, and 'An Apache Blessing'.
The Soho Hotel is beautifully styled and full of chic, modern decor – neither Sarah or Gav therefore felt the need to spend on dressing the reception. They did however hire some giant light up letters to help add a touch of their personalities to the venue – and these were supplied by the inimitable and brilliant Vowed & Amazed.
“Our photographer was Joanna Millington, who was friendly, fun, good to have around and we loved her ‘fly on the wall’ style photography rather than too many staged shots. We wanted a photographer that captured the day exactly how it was and Joanna certainly did that.
As soon as we saw Mark W. Brown wedding films, we knew we had to have one. I instantly fell in love with the style and they’re not like any others out there. They are beautiful, romantic, timeless and are able to capture so much more than a still image. We absolutely LOVE our film. We have watched it over and over again and notice something different each time we watch it.”
"My favourite part of the day was being stood at the front of a beautiful room, in an amazing city saying my vows to the love of my life surrounded by all our family and closest friends. I wouldn’t change anything for the world.”
Words of Wedded Wisdom…
“Do exactly what you and your husband-to-be want to do – it is impossible to please everyone – the day is about the two of you – therefore it is important that you are both happy.”
A lovely day indeed and I love Sarah's style – from her bouffant to her beautiful bow-backed dress. Huge congratulations Sarah and Gav – may your first year as newlywed be a truly joyous and memorable one. Thank you for letting us see your precious wedding photograph and a huge big thank you to your photographer Joanna Millington too.
