Bridal Inspiration Boards #75 ~ Eclectic Festival

Hello everyone, it’s the Pocketful of Dreams girls here – we’re back this morning to bring you our monthly design and styling guide for your inspiration and delight.  With wedding season firmly upon us, the Pocketful of Dreams team is officially on tour at the moment, as we travel around the UK delivering all manner of weddings, from the soft and pretty to the wild and debaucherous.

Today we thought we’d give you a little insight into one of the weddings we currently have in progress and it really is the perfect reading for a sunny Friday morning….we bring you: Eclectic Festival.

A festival wedding really is about so much more than just one day, it’s a chance to really go to town and create a full-on weekend experience that your guests will never forget – ideal for those freespirited and creative couples out there.  Along with those opportunities also comes a lot of additional considerations in the planning and we’ve spoken about festival weddings on Love My Dress before here, providing all sorts of design inspiration and practical tips as to how to set about planning and styling such an event.  This time around though, we wanted to show you how we’re actually creating a true festival celebration this Summer.

Taking place in the beautiful East Sussex countryside, this festival wedding is a real eclectic mix of bohemian inspiration, with a rich jewel-toned palette and a whole host of crazy-fun activities for the guests. As the wedding is yet to take place we’re not giving too much away, but you can follow along on Instagram next week for all the juicy details of this three-day extravaganza. For now we’re giving a little peek into the design behind the weekend and how we have taken the initial inspiration to bring some of the details to life.

THE INSPIRATION

Our brief was to create ‘a festival wedding like no other’,  a magical experience for the couple and their guests, where for just one weekend reality is suspended and the focus is on fun, laughter and friendship.

So we set about creating a design concept for a garden-party gone crazy, bursting with elements to engage the senses and creating a real wonderland ambience. With a jewel-coloured palette to bring a real richness to the design and provide a cohesive and stylish backdrop to the decor.

Of course any festival goer will know that the experience begins even before you step foot on site, so we’re creating a wow-factor welcome at the entrance to the site, complete with concierged check-in and a welcome pack bursting with goodies.

A hand-illustrated site map has been created to guide guests around the site, making sure they know all the fabulous activities planned for them.  We don’t want to give everything away but we can tell you they include hot tubs, space hoppers and wilderness foraging, to name just a few!!

An eclectic mix of whimsical and artistic upcycled decor and props will adorn the trees surrounding the site for that true summer festival vibe. Handpainted signage serves as both decor and waymarking for guests to find their way around.

The main event will take place under a huge stretch tent so to make the most of this beautiful British summer we’ve created an outdoor boho chill-out lounge with soft seating, rugs and fur throws for guests to gather around and chat beneath the stars.

THE FEAST

One of the big things about having a weekend wedding rather than just one day, is that of course you need to cater for a range of different meals and settings.  There will be several elements to the feasting over the course of this weekend, starting with a relaxed BBQ on Friday.  For this we’ve styled refectory tables with simple brown bottles and wooden planters filled with a variety of fragrant herbs, whilst the cutlery and crockery is palm-leaf for a chilled out and eco vibe.

Moving into Saturday, after guests have enjoyed a delicious farm to table breakfast we’ll be transforming the space for the wedding breakfast.  Tables will be going naked with bare wood, set up with vintage crockery, an array of jewel-coloured glassware and hand-dyed linen tea-towels to serve as napkins.

The cake station will feature three delicious wedding cakes displayed on rustic log plinths and we’ve created some unique handpainted hessian table runners to add a little interest to the display.

This wedding has been such a fun one for us to design and plan, we’ve been working with the couple now for a little under one year and are SO looking forward to bringing it all to life for them next weekend.  Don’t forget to follow along on Instagram and Twitter for more insights into our #WhimsicalOrganic festival wedding.
