Now, as much as I adore my job (I get to write about weddings, what’s not to love?), I will admit to finding the first few days back after a heavenly Christmas break rather tough. However, writing this feature has been nothing short of soul soothing as it’s given me the opportunity to drift off a little and spend far too long gazing at gorgeous photography, all in the name of research. What bliss! So, it’s with the greatest pleasure that I’m able to introduce you to Olliver Photography and their wonderful wedding imagery.
Based in East London, husband and wife team Christian and Annie Olliver, bring their rather special brand of photography to weddings right across the south of England and far far beyond. They’ve been shooting weddings for over seven years now and there’s always one thing that’s central to all they do…
“Our aim is simply to provide you with an everlasting record of your day that you’re really proud to show off,” explains Annie and I say hurrah to that – wedding photos deserve to be displayed and loved, not consigned to a cupboard or just stored online. Frame your favourites, cover your home in happiness and fall in love with them more every day!
Looking through the beautiful work that fills Annie and Christian’s website, it’s clear that their desire to document your day goes far beyond a list of standard shots. The images are individual, nothing is repeated, the emotions are genuine, captured in the moment and the details are recorded as part of the wedding, not set apart and photographed in the abstract. There’s no doubt that this gives a true reflection of each and every event as it really was and I sat smiling at these delightful images that made me feel I knew the people in them.
“Our style is mainly reportage with a sprinkling of posed shots of family and a few ‘fashiony’ photos of the bride and groom,” says Christian. “We love documenting the day as we see it, from the small details to those not-to-be-missed moments. We want to put you at your ease and help you enjoy your day even more.”
Christian and Annie live, play and work together as a family (complete with their adorable ‘littles’ nicknamed Piggy and the two Bears plus the newly arrived Agnes) and it seems to me that because of this, a deep appreciation of relationships, in all their forms, is a hugely important foundation to their photography.
“Our work is influenced by many reference points, from fine art and documentary photography to fashion and design and our London landscape,” says Annie. “But mostly, we’re inspired by our couples, their families and always by their stories.”
Wedding photography from Olliver Photography starts at £200 for an engagement shoot and £1250 for eight hours photographic coverage of the wedding day itself. You’ll receive 400-500 professionally edited images on a dvd afterwards with full permission to print them as you wish plus there’ll be a fantastic selection of images online for your friends and family to view too. Bespoke quotes are available so if you’d like additional coverage, a second shooter or more, it’s not a problem at all.
As an exclusive treat for Love My Dress readers, Olliver Photography are offering a free engagement shoot to any couples who book them before the end of February 2015. Just mention ‘Love My Dress Reader Offer’ when you get in touch.
