Following on from her fabulous debut collection in 2014, Charlotte Mills is back with a bang with more of her romantic and fun-loving designs. I’m a huge fan of Charlotte’s shoes and have heard from so many brides that they’re excellent to wear as well as being great to look at.

“I always wanted to be a shoe designer,” says Charlotte. “For as along as I can remember, I’ve always had a passion for shoes and I couldn’t imagine designing anything else. It’s wonderful to be able to design something that someone will love and want to wear on their wedding day to show a little bit of their personality and I find this really inspiring.”

Personality is certainly as word that I associate with Charlotte’s designs. From vintage inspired shoes with art deco and art nouveau influences through to the signature heart designs and the modern glittering block heels and delicate tied ankle straps, there are oodles of individual touches to adore. I love the butter-soft leathers, the shimmering glitters and the brilliant use of colour. As Charlotte says, these are designs for brides who want to stand out from the crowd.

However, it’s Charlotte’s playful incorporation of the bridal rhyme ‘Something old, something new’ that is definitely her signature flourish:

“Just like last season, the new styles are hand finished with a silver sixpence and the leather sole is embossed with rhyme itself. The sixpence is also the ‘something old’, the ‘something new’ is obviously the shoe itself, the ‘something blue’ can be found inside the shoe and there will also be ‘something borrowed’ in the shoebox. Brides tell me they love this idea and it’s unique to Charlotte Mills.”

Charlotte’s also very well known for the love hearts she includes on a number of her designs and in this new collection, both the Anabel flat pump and Andrea styles have had a little style makeover. There are now more than ten heart trims to choose from and you can pick the design or theme that suits you best – from fun embroidered slogans such as ‘just married’ or ‘happily ever after’ adorning your shoes to glittering crystal and freshwater pearl details that have been created by Laura Rhodes, owner of Lovebird Brides and creator of Lah De Da.

So, what shoes would I choose? The delightful Blossom flats or Beth heels with their hearts and straps? The bold, block-heeled beauty of Andrea? The elegant Ana or Anastasia? Or a pair of super sweet Anabel flats? Well, I don’t think I’d want to have to pick just one design so perhaps it would just be a much better idea to choose two pairs instead…
